I'm studying for the Here's to your health and the substance abuse dsst tests. Can anyone give me some helpful info on what it takes to pass these tests? I'm using the flashcards and have books for review. How hard are the tests and will just studying the flashcards on IC be enough?

Welcome to the forum!
I've never taken these tests but I can tell you that you can use the Peterson's Practice Tests to see how much you know. The practice test is usually harder than the real exam.
I don't know how easy/hard these exams are but it's always best to use other sources besides IC.
You can also check out the Specific Exam Feedback for info on these exams.

I took HTYH 2 days ago and I thought it was super easy, however I am a nurse. The specific exam feedback section here can give you good insight on what to expect, they are always right on target with what you need to know. I think even non-nurses could pass the test with minimal study. I did not study at all for the test, but like I said, nursing background. I haven't taken Substance abuse yet.

I have not taked the substance abuse but I thought the HTYH was fairly easy. I did the Petersons and decided I didn't really need to study. I did review a few of the flashcards. I did go to nursing school for a year but that was over 30 years ago and I have not been in the health field.

I just passed this morning with a 414.
Studied no more than 10 hours total over the course of the last two weeks with the bulk of the study over the last few days. I only used instant cert; started with flashcards but didn't quite like the fill in the blank process so primarily used Peterson's Practice Exams along with the exam feedback.
While I wouldn't say the test is "easy" I would say it's easier than some mainly because some of the information is common sense.
