So much to do...so little time - odysseylover87 - 05-16-2011 Well, the title may be misleading, because I essentially have 8 and a half weeks. But I'm wanting to take several CLEPs in that space of time: Human Growth & Development, Intro to Biology, Western Civ. II, and American Government. I did CLEP Intermediate French over Christmas break, but I took the whole break to study. So is that viable? Do I have time to study well for each test? I am planning on using only IC flashcards and the forum, unless I just feel really unprepared. I am typically a good test-taker, so I may not need a super long time to study, but I just wanted to know if anyone has had the experience of taking several CLEPs in a limited time, and maybe these tests specifically. Thanks! So much to do...so little time - PonyGirl93 - 05-16-2011 Two weeks/test is super reasonable! How familiar are you with each subject? Check out each test on Free Clep Prep.com, see how hard each will probably be for you. I would go easiest-medium-hardest-medium, but I know a lot of people will tell you to go straight up in difficulty (easiest to hardest.) There are a lot of great free internet resources, so don't limit yourself to browsing this forum. Two weeks is long enough to listen to some good lectures (iTunes U, Open University, & another online source that I forget the name of! lol), grab a textbook from the public library, make a good outline based on free-clep-p.com and IC feedback. So much to do...so little time - kester22 - 05-16-2011 Very doable - see my signature below. If I pass my two exams tomorrow, I will have accumulated a little over 60 credits since February 2011, most of them are from Straighterline but there is alot of CLEP in there too. I am taking HG&D CLEP tomorrow along with HTYH DSST. If I pass, I will only have the Info Lit class left and I will have my associate in science from EC in less than 5 months of study. So much to do...so little time - vickyvicky - 05-16-2011 I suggest French first. So much to do...so little time - odysseylover87 - 05-16-2011 Thanks for the responses and advice! I did not know about the free practice tests...just took one of the ones for HG&D...got about half right (bleh), but that's without any studying at all. I am working on a Psychology minor, so I've taken a couple of psych classes already...I know the general stuff, now I just have to learn the stuff about infants mostly, it seems. That's the one I really want done, so I'll probably do it first. I am really not good at math or science, so I'm dreading Intro to Bio, but I'm sure the forum thread for that exam will be very useful. I'm fairly good at history (mostly memorization, I'm assuming), and my dad is really into politics, so there's a resource for American Government haha. Thanks for the encouragement...I'm feeling pretty good about what I can get done in two weeks. For my practice tests I got in the high 30's and low 40's...a day b4 the exam! and I still passed the test. The practice tests are hard. Good luck! So much to do...so little time - Lindagerr - 05-16-2011 You don't say how much time you have to study. I did a test every 3-4 weeks last year while working part to full time. I am old (over 40 and fabulous) as someone else here says and I did it. So if you are young and have lots of hours to study you should do fine. I highly recommend checking out the specific exam feedback on this forum, it has always helped me make a study guide. I hope to take American Government tomorrow or Wednesday( I keep putting it off) I will post how it goes. So much to do...so little time - LaterBloomer - 05-17-2011 Don't mean to hijack a thread, but good luck w/ the goverment test, Linda. What's holding you back from taking it? So much to do...so little time - kester22 - 05-17-2011 Ditto on what Lindagerr said. Specific exam feedback section is priceless! I'm off to take HG&D and HTYH exams. Woohoo! So much to do...so little time - Firedup4Jesus - 05-17-2011 You guys are crazy! I admire you all for your go get it attitude. :hurray: You inspire me!!! |
