Straighterline ACCOUNTING Question - robsteffens - 05-10-2011

Hey Guys!

For those of you who have taken Straighterline Accounting I and II, I have a question.

I just took SL Accounting 1 and got an 'A' - 95 percent.

My question is, could you guys tell me if SL Accounting 2 is harder than Accounting 1? If so, how much harder? ;-)

In other words, if I put the same time into studying Acct 2 that I put into studying Acct 1, will I get the same grade?

I'm just trying to figure how much time to plan studying to get an A in Acct 2.

Thanks so much.

I didn't think it was harder, even though my grade was a little lower. I got a low B on Accounting I... maybe 82 percent and I ended up with a 79.4 (ugh!) in Accounting II. The reason for this is not difficulty level, it's just that I really hate accounting and I was sooooooo sick of it. I remember when I was on the Accounting II final getting totally bored and just hurrying through the end. In retrospect, I regret that because had I gotten even a couple more problems correct on the final, I would have gotten an 80 in the class.

You should do just fine.

Burburja and I have a similar experience.

SL Accounting II wasnt harder, but since I put major effort into reading each chapter thoroughly and I was used to the rapid pace of studying for CLEP/DSST exams, I got impatient and instead of going through it methodically like SL Accounting 1, I didnt read the chapters as thoroughly.

If you put the same effort into SL Accounting II you should get the 'A'. there are more than a few tricky questions but none are insurmountable. The credit transferred as Pass/Fail for me so I wasn't as concerned, sure i would have liked to had the A, but I wanted to finish Smile

Mine is similar to you all.

Accounting 1 wasn't difficult at all, so I exerted the same effort on Accounting 2. However, now I'm in their "Managerial Accounting" which actually translates to Cost Accounting and I am completely burnt-out on accounting.

Reading 2 books is fine, but a 3rd on accounting is nuts.

That being said, Cost accounting IS actually harder, not because of the content, but because the testing time is 1/2 of what the other accounting classes are.

So to answer your question, it is not More or Less difficult, it is a different type of accounting, not necessarily more "advanced" by all mean.s

Accounting ii uses the same book. It is the same level of difficulty but I found it a little easier since I already had the process down. It took three days to complete with an A.

Yeah I just finished that course last month, and the testing times were really crazy, especially when you have slow internet! A couple times my browser messed up and I had to re-enter the test. Not to mention they put more questions on the test than stated beforehand... it was kind of stressful.

I passed though (with 2 points to spare), so I'm happy.
