COSC & DSST Grading - derek10rr3 - 04-19-2011

Hi All,

I am about to enter the testing world in a few weeks, and wasn't sure if this was posted or not, but here is an update I received from Admissions at COSC regarding the grading of DSST Exams.

"Here’s information I received from our Registrar’s Office: Most DANTES exams now have A, B or C letter grades (no +/-) but there are some that don’t get grades because they are on a different grading scale that can’t be converted. The ones that can’t be given letter grades, and only grades of ‘P’ are: Substance Abuse, Criminal Justice, Ethics in America, College Algebra, Here’s to your health, Intro to Computing, World Religions, Management Info Systems, Principles of Statistics and Public Speaking".

This is enough to let me give COSC a serious look. It's between them and EC.

COSC will give a letter grade on any non-refreshed DSST, so any DSST that scores out of 80 rather than 400 is graded. It's a great way to boost your GPA.

Edit to add: I just logged on to view my transcripts and I have gotten grades for the following Dantes tests: Bus Law II, Technical Writing, Law Enforcement, Money & Banking, Environment & Humanity, and Organizational Behavior.

All of those were A's except for Money & Banking, but I was just happy to pass that one!

Does COSC award SL Financial Accounting II as equivalent to Managerial Accounting if I send it to FHSU first?

Or should I do Managerial Acct instead?

COSC will take both SL Accounting I and II and give them credit as Financial and Managerial. They do not want you to transcript through FHSU, though you might be able to. My advisor told me that since they partner directly with SL, that I should have the score directly to them. COSC does award a letter grade for SL so it's not just pass/fail.

I hope this helps!!
