Army Humor - CLEP101 - 04-19-2011

Just thought I'd lighten up the thread,

The NCO:

A man was flying a hot air balloon and realized that he was lost. He reduced his height and spotted a man down below. He lowered the balloon further and shouted "Excuse me, can you help me? I made a promise to meet someone a half hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man below said, "Yes, you are in a hot air balloon, hovering approximately 30 feet off this field. You are between 40 and 42 degrees north latitude and between 58 and 60 degrees west longitude."

"Wow, you must be an NCO," said the balloonist.

"I am ", replied the NCO, "How did you know?"

"Well," said the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to do with this information and the fact is, I am still lost."

"You must be an officer!", said the NCO.

"I am", replied the balloonist, "but how did you know?"

"Well," said the NCO, " You don't know where you are or where you are going. You have made a promise to someone that you cannot keep and you expect me to solve your problem. The fact is you are in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but now it is somehow my fault."

:patriot:

Haha I knew where that was going... never trust an officer with a map Smile

Brilliant! Hopefully one day I'll be the one lost in the balloon. They make more money. Big Grin

You're right, they sure are over paid:roflol: And I have more degrees than the average officer, heck some Lieutenants haven't even finished their bachelors.
I'm very happy where I'm at and am thankful I don't need or worry about making more money that what I do now.

Good reason to join -rolls eyes-

I've already joined 4 years ago. Closing up my degree and moving on to the Medical Service Corps. Thanks for your positive attitude shipmate.

Congrats! I find it amusing how most officers assume we enlisted are lacking education. I've met a couple PhD carriers with chevrons. Just when you think you've figured it all out, you run into an outlier! Big Grin

True, I ran into a Lawyer with a PhD a few months ago who enlisted in the Signal corps when I was in Korea. He was a Specialist E-4. I didn't want to get into his personal life, but it just looked funny seeing someone older than me working for one of my Sergeants.
I'm guessing he just needed to pay off some of his student loans, do his time and get out.

Haha poor guy.... "What's this 23 year old Sergeant yelling at me for? I got a PhD!"

lol I must have missed this earlier... I knew you were enlisted already, I just meant in general that's (a bad reason) why a lot of people join. There's a big ROTC presence around here and I see them bumbling around a lot when I visit my girlfriend at her college.
