Eight New Straighterline courses - FinancialWorld - 03-21-2011 I just got this email from Straighterline.com. They offer a nice coupon with here too. I don't know if it could be combined with the buy-one-course-get-one-free deal. Quote:Great news! This week StraighterLine launched 8 new courses. Even better, the American Council on Education's (ACE) Credit Recommendation Service reviewed and recommends all 8 of our new online college courses for credit. Our newest college courses include: I've been waiting for Calc. II to come out for about 2 months now. It's finally here....but now I'm to busy with my other courses. Hopefully this helps some of you out there. I'd also recommend a previous thread about how to use straighterline.com courses. The strategy that someone outlined would work really well. Eight New Straighterline courses - kester22 - 03-21-2011 I just wish FHSU would pick up some more of the current courses for credit. These are great additions (especially the A&P with Labs). IT would be nice if FHSU gave credit for a these as well. Eight New Straighterline courses - FinancialWorld - 03-21-2011 FHSU is a partner college with SL, so they should accept the courses. Also, if they accept ACE credit, then just have the courses transcribed through ACE. I can't say this with actually experience because I've only sent my courses to TESC. As far as I know they only accept Accounting I & II, Algebra, Macro and Micro for letter grades. They will take the college algebra, macroeconomics, microeconomics, accounting I, and accounting II. They will not accept any of the other SL course offerings for credit. Eight New Straighterline courses - burbuja0512 - 03-21-2011 I am very happy to see these courses on there. Even if they can't be 'laundered' through FHSU, I'm pretty sure that any of the Big 3 will take them directly. Not a great option for everyone, but you can't beat SL for price. Isn't there a way to get around this? Couldn't you just have the courses transcribed through ACE or TESC and then transferred to FHSU? I've done this but there seems like there should be get the credit transferred another institution. idk Eight New Straighterline courses - TheCommuter - 03-21-2011 rossatkinson Wrote:Isn't there a way to get around this? I've done this but there seems like there should be get the credit transferred another institution. idkThe foreseeable issue is the fact that a TESC transcript makes it very clear that Straighterline is the source of the college credits and will transcribe the courses as 'transfer credit.' In addition, an ACE transcript makes it crystal clear that Straighterline is the credit source. Fort Hays only accepts five SL courses for transfer credit. Even if the credits from the other courses are laundered through another partner college, there's a good chance that Fort Hays may not accept them. Fort Hays is unique in the way they transcribe the five courses that they accept. On a FHSU transcript, it appears that the Straighterline course was directly taken at FHSU during that semester. There are no indications of 'transfer credit' on the transcript, which increases the likelihood that any other regionally accredited college in the nation will accept the five courses and issue transfer credit with little to no hesitation.
