Easy CLEP Question - pkmoose - 03-09-2011 I'm enrolled at TESC and am wanting to take some CLEP tests, so I looked on the TESC website and it says a passing score (for most tests) is 50. What is 50? Is that 50%? 50 out of 100 (minus practice questions)? I took a few test exams and scored mid 70's, would this be enough to pass the CLEP? Thank you for time, Patrick Easy CLEP Question - kester22 - 03-09-2011 The CLEP I took yesterday, intro to psych was 95 questions, so a score of 50 is greater than 50%, but just barely. The scores range from 20-80 on this test, even if you got them all right, the top score is 80. You can also get a score of 50 if you get 49 or 48 right I believe.....clep scoring is weird but the study guide has the score interpretation and I think the REA guide has the interpretation also. It's not a %, it's a scale. The score range is 20 (lowest) to 80 (highest). The % differs on each exam and you'll never know your % because they won't tell you. Which practice tests are you using? Some are harder than others, the brand and subject you are using might help people make a suggestion. Easy CLEP Question - pkmoose - 03-09-2011 Thanks for the replies so far. I'm using the Information Systems and Computer Applications course with Peterson's practice tests at nelnetsolutions.com Easy CLEP Question - burbuja0512 - 03-09-2011 hilarious I guess the "easy" question isn't as easy as you thought! CLEP/DSST scoring has always been a bit of a mystery to me.. Easy CLEP Question - ShotoJuku - 03-09-2011 Something Else To Know FACT: The lowest possible score is a 20. The highest possible is an 80. FACT: Approx. 1/2 the questions on the test must be successfully answered to get a 50, or a pass. THE HYPOTHESIS: In a 100 question test, such as Sociology and many others, there are only 60 possible points (between 20-80) for 100 questions. 60 points divided by 100 questions = .6pts If each questions is worth .6 points, 50 correct questions = 50q X .6pts = 30pts You must add 20 since 0 correct questions = 20pts. 30 points + 20 points = 50 points, or a pass. Now:If each point in a 100 question test is worth .6 points, 100 questions X .6 points = 60; 60 + 20 = 80. By this formula, answering 75 questions correctly would translate to a score of 65. Easy CLEP Question - STG - 03-09-2011 Wow nice math you got there

Shoto, you had to go there (the math), I just got a headache trying to work it out. All I know is that a score of 50-80 gives me a grade of "CR" = Pass Don't get too wrapped up on this, the grade will end up the same on the transcript. Especially if you're enrolled in TESC. It's not like you're trying to get exactly a 50... just answer all the questions you can and get your score. If there's a practice test available for it you should have a rough idea if you're ready to take the test or not. If you get 50% of the questions right and almost every single questions seems to stump you, then maybe you need some more studying. Easy CLEP Question - pkmoose - 03-10-2011 Many thanks for the replies, it is greatly appreciated. |
