Does an enrolled student at TESC get a tesc.edu email address?

A student enrolled at TESC does not get a tesc.edu email address. Not even the mentors (professors) get a tesc.edu email address.

Gmail offers free email services to colleges and universities. I'm surprised TESC doesn't use them.

Thanks for your reply.

Sandra

I get one at COSC. Does anyone know how long you keep your email? Do they let you have it forever or does it go away as soon as I graduate?

I have one for my master's but EC didn't issue me one. I had an internal email linked to my student portal that the school used, but it didn't receive email from outside the school. My current school does send and receive email from outside the school and I have a .edu email address. This is beneficial for some of the free services for students that require that .edu email for confirmation.

I was hoping for a .edu address. Last year, Amazon.com was offering 1 year of free Prime membership to students with .edu addresses. I can't understand why these schools don't use gmail. My understanding is Google handles all the headaches associated with offering email addresses so it would be easy for them to do.....

Seems like it would depend on whether or not the school uses an internal email system or external (google). I've got a google account through the VA CC System and foresee having it forever. Also have an internal one through UIS and, from experience, after so many semesters as a non-student this account will likely be closed. As streamlined as the big 3 are it would shock me if they even made the effort to offer a google account. More overhead = more costs to the student.
