I'm studying for US History II-and now am beginning to throroughly dislike it-and have a question for some more experienced testers. I scored 50 on a Peterson practice test after going through the flashcards once, going over everything I missed, going over everythig I missed again, and reading the REA book twice. Yeah, it's not looking so good, if the Peterson test is an accurate marker. Now, I'm going through the flashcards again and am doing really well. I'll probably get 85% or something like that by the time I'm done. I'm on question 350 of 520 and have 600 out of 1000 correct. So my question is, is getting an 80% on the Flashcards a more accurate reading that I should take the test or is the Peterson practice test more accurate? Or is US History II just whacked? To sum up my questions: I am ready for this test?
P.S. Has anyone else had problems with US History II?

Take an REA practice test and tell us what you get.

I personally prefer IC. It's worked for me very well so far, but many people on here use more than one source when studying. My typical study pattern goes like this:

1) Do a set of flashcards on IC
2) Look up concepts from IC that I didn't understand on Wikipedia
3) Type important facts into a word doc "study guide"
4) Go into specific forum feedback to see if I've missed anything
5) Get bored, read degreeform, facebook and maybe msnbc
6) Start over again

Using this process, I've passed all my CLEP/DSST except one, but I am the first one to admit that I didn't even read all of the IC flashcards for the one I failed.

Everyone needs to find the study method that works for them and this often involves trial and error. Unless you're really strapped for cash, you don't need to limit yourself to one resource. I also want to note that the specific forum feedback that you get with the IC subscription has helped me just as much as IC. It's really good.

Edit: I just re-read this and realized that you were probably talking about US History II only, and I was speaking in general terms. Lol.. sorry it's New Year's Day and even though I didn't drink last night, I only slept 3 hours.

Okay, thanks for the help, y'all! I'll go take that REA now.

I agree that the Peterson's practice tests were difficult for the US History I and II exams. They are still useful to use as study resources.

All right, I took the REA practice test from their CD and got a 65. Now, it seems that there are a lot of similar questions between REA and Peterson and I had looked at a fourty question sample of an REA test before and noticed a lot of repeat questions. So, I suppose if I had actually taken all of those questions for the first time, my score might be lower. In fact, I think that there were a ton of repeat questions but I'm not quite sure.

You might be able to pass. I was getting 80% correct on the REA tests, but I made well above passing.

Take the other REA tests. Read the explanations on everything you missed on all three tests. Look up anything you're unfamiliar with. Most people consider the REA study guide and tests to be right on target.

Keep studying. Make a study guide of what you don't know. I would get to ninety percent on rea and instantcert before scheduling the test. Us history one clep was easier than rea but not too much easier.

Well, I passed it. I got a 68 so, yeah, it was actually really, really easy compared to what I was expecting. Thanks for the help!
