For Those that Have Taken UL Psych Exams...Is IC Enough for A Grade??? - steelers - 01-27-2007

1) From what I gather IC is adequate to score an A at Excelsior on the following. Would you all agree?:

Adulthood & Aging (combined with IC Gerontology material)
Research Methods (IC alone)

2) However, additional material may be needed to score an A on Gerontology (IC Adulthood & Aging material, IC Gerontolgy material, plus another supplement) and Abnormal Psych. It appears that a B may be more the norm for these two exams without additional material. Would those that have taken these agree?

3) For those that scored an A on Gerontology what other material did you use besides IC?

Yes i think IC is more than enough to get an A on those two.Gerontology i got B and i studied only IC but i did not study with much concentration and also i was overconfident after the easy A on PAA.
I did some research on wikipedia for all 3 for terms i did not understand etc.
Also there are some quizzes posted by beckysharp and i did those for PAA.
I think even without all that IC would be enough to do very well on these exams.

I used IC only on PAA and got a B. I didn't study any outside material or use the content guide from Excelsior. A little more effort may have given better results, but I was pleased.

I used IC alone for Research Methods and it was good enough for an A and 3 UL credits...

As great as IC is, remember everything is relative; some students need more than just one source and/or learn more productively from others sources.

When I was shooting for an "A" I used whatever I could and even as a BIG FAN of IC, I would still recommend using more than less to get more "A's" than less - Good Luck!

I agree with Brian completely. What works for one will not always work for you, especially if you want an "A". If you search the web, for whatever psych test you're studying for, you'll find a plethora of practice tests available. There is no sure answer, but more is always better, the rest is on how well you retain information and test.

Keep in mind, my goal was to get through my degree as quickly as possible and I scored 3 "B"s and 2 "A"s using primarily IC and a few websites with practice tests (see my previous posts on exam feedbacks). With a bit of effort, I'm sure you'll do even better. Good Luck! Lee
