Computer Science Tests - burbuja0512 - 12-01-2010 Quick question for those of you that have taken more than one of the computer tests. My advisor suggested that I only take one of the three: Intro to Computing DSST, Information Systems CLEP, or Management info systems DSST, as there could be duplicate credit. I know that I've seen people here mention that they have studied for two at once, so is my advisor incorrect? Maybe it's just a COSC thing.. does EC or TESC allow more than one of these tests? I have to take Management Info Systems for my concentration and thought that I could pick up some elective credit by studying for both at once and now it sounds like I can't... Computer Science Tests - NAP - 12-01-2010 I just checked the COSC list. They are all lower-level. That might be the problem. At EC, we can get credit for all three in the School of Liberal Arts. MIS is upper-level. (All are applied professional.) At TESC, I believe they can only take one - Intro to Computing DSST or Information Systems CLEP - because of duplication, plus MIS. (Plus computing counts in the natural science/math category.) That is disappointing; I know it was nice to get credit for all 3 at EC. Computer Science Tests - burbuja0512 - 12-01-2010 I may end up taking the intro to computing anyhow... my 15 year old wants to take it so I'll be studying with him anyhow. I would then just wait and see if it showed up on my transcript... Not sure yet. I have a pretty tight testing schedule if I want to graduate by May so there may not be time. Computer Science Tests - rebel100 - 12-02-2010 Yeah, I think the problem is that COSC only gives LL credit for all of them. I would ask the advisor again if they will accept more than one with the second applying specifically as elective credit. I suspect they will take it that way.....just won't apply to your specific degree track. I could be wrong and would like to hear what they tell you. Computer Science Tests - zefrench - 12-03-2010 at EC in BS IT I got credit core credit for all three. |
