Excelsior Liberal Studies Courseplan Question - vintagemother - 11-22-2010 Hello, I found out that my former school will not release my transcripts to EC until I pay off my Perkins student loan in full. (Warning: Do not get behind on a Perkins loan or it will be "accelerated" ) This means I need to determine which classes to take at EC without guidance from a counselor there. Do you know if EC will evaluate my other transcripts even if 1 is missing? Or if they will not evaluate any courses until all transcripts are received by them. I thought there was a link on the EC website to a course-plan. If there is, can someone please tell me exactly where to look. Excelsior Liberal Studies Courseplan Question - marianne202 - 11-23-2010 Search here under Alissa or EC course plan. She has a nice easy to follow course plan that you can fill out and see where you are at. Also EC has within each school a list of the required courses. So if you want to do say a nursing degree you would go to the school of nursing etc. When you go to the viewbook or catalog, forget which one, it will show you the list of required courses so you can just compare that to the breakdown Alissa has posted here. Good luck! Excelsior Liberal Studies Courseplan Question - barcotta - 11-23-2010 I believe they will evaluate whatever you send them. With over 25,000 students, I don't think they have the time to determine if you have credits from elsewhere that you haven't included. In addition, you are under no obligation to use all previously-earned credits. I would, however, talk to a counselor about the classes you completed so they can steer you clear of duplicating them while you pay off your loan. Good job reaching out to the forum to get started. Quite honestly, this can be the trickiest part and, given the ease of some of the CLEP and DSST exams, I've always felt that choosing and mapping out a plan at one of the big 3 should be worth at LEAST 3 credits in and of itself. Good luck! vintagemother Wrote:Hello, Excelsior Liberal Studies Courseplan Question - vintagemother - 11-23-2010 Barcotta: I did contact EC and they will place a note in my file not to wait for those particular transcripts. I will talk with my counselor about where those credits will apply. Mariane202: I looked on the website and I see the programs, degree programs, BLA, School of Liberal Arts PDF, I get this link but I don't know exactly where to look for the degree required classes. Please help! Excelsior Liberal Studies Courseplan Question - marianne202 - 11-23-2010 Hey, Your link is correct. If you scroll to page 21 you will find the beginning of the info for the BS / BA degrees. You will find a chart on page 25 and another one on page 27 or so. Just scroll through that. I personally just printed off the section that applied so I had it as a reference without having to login again and find it. I hope this helps. Excelsior Liberal Studies Courseplan Question - vintagemother - 11-23-2010 Thanks Marianne. I was wondering if there was a better place to look. It's good to know that I'm in the right place. THANK YOU! |
