History of the US 1 & 2 vs. Western Civ 1 & 2 - julie1782 - 11-02-2010 I need two history courses and I am trying to determine which two tests would be easier: History of the US 1 & 2 or Western Civ 1 & 2. I'm a social science major with a general knowledge of history, but nothing too fantastic. It would seem that US history would be easier (since I have lived here all my life) but then again, maybe the US tests are made harder than the west civ tests for that very reason? Urgh! Suggestions? History of the US 1 & 2 vs. Western Civ 1 & 2 - parabolate2 - 11-03-2010 i did history 1 and 2 CLEP with a total of about 6-8 (for each test) hours of studying the IC flashcards only, no other sources other than the occassional Wikipedia search for something that wasn't totally clear from the card info. My school justs gives pass or fail for CLEP credit so if you just need 2 passes then the History 1 and 2 are pretty easy as long as you just know all the info. from the flashcards cold - i havent done any western civ. tests so cant comment on those History of the US 1 & 2 vs. Western Civ 1 & 2 - KyleH - 11-03-2010 I disagree with parabolate2. While I think US History I is easy with a fair knowledge of History, US History II is downright dangerous. I studied for about a month and only got a 57. A friend I know failed it after studying significantly (with IC as well). I haven't taken Western Civ I or II so I can't tell you how they compare, but if you do take US History II, beware. History of the US 1 & 2 vs. Western Civ 1 & 2 - AGVI - 11-03-2010 It depends on your interest, as well as your prior knowledge of the subjects. US History 1 was relatively easy, compared to US History 2. Personally, I have greater interest in world history, so I found both Western Civ. exams easier than US History 2. History of the US 1 & 2 vs. Western Civ 1 & 2 - Maniac Craniac - 11-03-2010 Easier? The one you are most interested in studying ![]() History of the US 1 & 2 vs. Western Civ 1 & 2 - Boomshadow - 11-04-2010 I've taken Western Civ. I & II, and U.S. History I & II, and even though the detail is much greater, I found US History I & II to be easier. The scope of information you need to learn for Western Civ is quite large, and it was more difficult to figure out what was important to know. But for U.S. History I & II, I found an awesome study sheet on historyteacher.net. It's a giant US History AP Study Sheet made by a high school kid, and it covers basically everything you will need to know for the US History CLEPs. History of the US 1 & 2 vs. Western Civ 1 & 2 - InstantCert Read-Only Account - 11-04-2010 Thanks for the helpful responses. It sounds like US History I won't be too bad. My school just does Pass/Fail on these tests, so maybe I would be ok with US II with just studying the flash cards. Like one post pointed out, western civ seems to cover a vast amount of info- History of the US 1 & 2 vs. Western Civ 1 & 2 - CLEP101 - 11-04-2010 I took and passed US Hist 1 & 2 after studying IC and REA material for about 2 weeks. I just took and passed Western Civ 1 with a higher score than the US Hist tests using REA and am currently studying for WC 2. Just my opinion, but for some reason the US Hist tests were harder. I think mainly because there were many quotes that I had to identify who had said them, and many questions asking for how people thought or what was the mentality back in the day. I am studying for WC 2 and it seems easier to study for than WC 1 so far. I think I'll attempt it next week. History of the US 1 & 2 vs. Western Civ 1 & 2 - sconner001 - 11-06-2010 I just took History II on Monday and failed. My score was 48. I took 6 week of studying the flash cards and was scoring 80% and above on the flash cards. I was unprepared for the amount of quotes that was given on the test. I expected quotes like 'I have a dream" with the questions pertaining to when and by whom this was made...however there were about 10 quotes that was totally unfamiliar to me and I never saw on the flash card. I have come to the conclusion that this test must be supplemented by the textbook...but that is my story. History of the US 1 & 2 vs. Western Civ 1 & 2 - ShotoJuku - 11-06-2010 USH 1 & 2 :iagree: |
