Credit for upper division classes - Thereck - 10-07-2010 I am currently one upper division credit short of my degree at excelsior, and am facing the issue of having my upper division marketing and management classes from RA university of the incarnate word being denied for ud credit. It is impossible due to my unique circumstances to even be allowed time to be able to test out of the credit through dantes (etc.) before Jan of next year. I am also facing military application deadlines for officer candidate school and an upcoming deployment. The question is, does anyone know a way that I can receive the proper credit for these classes through credit banking or transcribing at a different university? Does anyone have any suggestions? Credit for upper division classes - kevinmanemane - 10-07-2010 I don't know exactly what kind of UL credit you need whether its History or Computer stuff or whatever, but I guess if you were a straight up gangsta, you could do an LSU course in about 5ish weeks if you turned in the max 3 assignments a week. Also I know that Excelsior accepts the ALEKS Intro to Stats course as upper level credit. If you havent done that already, you could prolly get that done in a full @$$ day if you woke up at 8 and did it til midnight. Umm, like i said - i dont know what you need the credit in, but I studied for Substance abuse DSST in like 2 days and not even that hardcore and i passed easily. I wish there was something out there that was just 1 UL credit stuff you could do like the FEMAs for LL but I can't think of anything like that at the moment. Credit for upper division classes - Thereck - 10-07-2010 Those distance learning options sound like a good bet, i am currently applying for the ba in liberal studies with most of my credits being in Arabic and business, but I think I only need one ul credit in any subject. The worst part is that socad, tesc, and charter oaks all say they will accept those classes as ul, it's only excelsior that is insisting that they are lower division. Credit for upper division classes - NAP - 10-08-2010 If you are getting a BA in Liberal Studies, all 30 UL credits must be Arts & Sciences. If you are getting a BS in Liberal Studies, at least 21 UL credits must be Arts & Sciences and 9 UL credits can be Applied Professional (like Marketing and Management). Is the problem that you are getting a BA and Marketing and Management won't count for the UL requirement at EC? If so, be sure to pick from the Arts & Sciences categories. I'm not sure which subject area/depth you need the single UL credit. Did you look at Excelsior's Liberal Arts catalog and compare the credits you've earned to what EC grants upper and lower level credit? A simple check should answer your question. If not, you can easily earn an upper level credit through an Excelsior College exam or DSST exam. It all depends on whether you need a math/science, social science/history, or applied professional upper-level credit. I earned a BS in Liberal Arts from EC and finished all my upper level credits in a month through Excelsior College exams. Granted, it took non-stop study, but it can definitely be done. Good luck! |
