Financial Aid Question help please! - herederah - 09-23-2010 Here it goes, I've been attending class here at ECU for fall semester as a transfer student, and that they grant me a money of $2775 each sem and a student loan of $4000, I accpted the loans while the grant was automatic accepted since it's a free money right that I dont have to repaid. At first before I registered for classes I was happy because I got grant from ECU, and that helped me alot of the tuition and fees since I live On campus also. I registered as a full time student, at first I have 14 hrs credit when the class started but it became 13hrs credit when i dropped the PE class that has 1hr credit because I don't need it anymore to the fact that I took that class in my former community college. Now, I received a message from the cashier that I owe them $1600 and I asked where did that come from since I paid it fully. They said that they recalled my financial aid $2775. Can they do that, take back the grant money and issue me a bill? I'm worried about it because I dont have money to pay them, I attended this university and already planned the payment with the help of the grant and loans. DO they have the right to do this since I am still under full time student with 13 hr credit. can someone answer my question \ thanks. Financial Aid Question help please! - bricabrac - 09-23-2010 Hi Herederah, I would call the financial aid office right away, they handle the approvals and administer the awards not the bursar. It sounds like something went wrong when you dropped the 1cr course. You are still a full time student (12cr) which more than qualifies you for financial aid. They probably only need do a manual adjustment. Also the payment could have gone to your previous school in error. Or, final paperwork may have not been signed and returned. Again only a phone call to your financial aid dept will answer your questions. Good luck!
