Sorry this is long I just need to vent. :nopity:
Sometimes I like to go on Yahoo Answers and recommend InstantCert and degree forum for people taking CLEPS. I have also mentioned on there that I do not recommend speedyprep. That is a whole different story so I will just say I did not find the study materials very helpful and I failed using it. Anyway, so a guy on there, who works for speedyprep and answers many of the same questions I do, emailed me and kind was not the exact word I'd use. He called me a liar accused me in lying for the sake of my "commercial interests" in InstantCert. I emailed him back and explained that I have the right to tell others of my experience even if he does not agree with it and I have always been truthful in my answers. He also falsely reported several of my answers as abuse. I appealed and they said they indeed were not violations. So after a while that blew over and I didn't think too much of it. But yesterday, this creep called my house! I don't know how he figured out my name and phone number, but he did. I have NEVER stated my name or any personal details on that website. I don't even use my last name in my username like I do here. In the emails mentioned I did not state my name or anything. And the emails were all conducted through Y!A so he shouldn't have even seen my email address. So when he called my house my mother answered the phone and he lied and told her he was Shawn from CollegePlus and he wanted to speak with me. I don't know how he even found out I was enrolled in collegeplus. So my mother gives me the phone and for a little while he pretends like he is with CollegePlus and starts asking me about speedyprep an if I was rmr on yahoo answers. I told him I was, and before I know it he blows up and is saying many ugly things to me. Then he says he is the owner of speedyprep. He wanted me to lie and say recommend speedyprep even though he admitted that several other people failed the test I used speedyprep for. I don't know why he thought calling and harassing me would cause me to have a better opinion of speedyprep but I don't think this guy has a whole lot going on upstairs. So anyway I called CollegePlus and they said that they do not have a Shawn, but they know that speedyprep does. I called speedyprep but they did not call me back and probably won't. I don't know for sure that the guy who called me was the same guy who emailed me, but who else would do that?
Okay I've vented and I feel better :p

Let me just say that I've used both CollegePlus! and SpeedyPrep, and that could not be any more different than what I experienced. I've only encountered the most polite staff with CollegePlus!. Also with SpeedyPrep, their materials helped me pass a test (the only test I tried with them), and they were the only thing I used. Not only were their materials good, but the interaction I had with them left nothing to be desired. I find it hard to believe that it really could have been that bad...sorry to say that, but it just seems way different then my experience.

Hmm... Sounds like you might have legal recourse. Did you happen to note the phone number (caller ID?) And, there's ways of finding out who people are on the Internet... You're never anonymous as you might think.

I would just make a deal with him. He gets to keep his money, and you shut your mouth, on the condition that he spends his time improving his product in lieu of stalking young girls.

Did he try to bribe you to keep quiet about the harassment of the 1st phone call or to stop giving negative reviews online?
Also, did that 2nd call help you verify for certain that it was the guy from speedyprep?
Finally, I bet that since you are a minor this could be a serious crime on his part.
BTW: Didn't know you were so young, congrats on all your quick work!

There are quite a few legal issues with what he did. On the very surface there's harassment and the fact that you're a minor would probably be grounds for a criminal complaint. The $150 bribe is just classic hilarious
Edit: As an aside - If you click on a Yahoo Answers avatar and bring up the user's information, they list your Email address there along with any other information you've entered.

Yahoo! Answers is downright evil. Logging on to it is like saying Bloody Mary three times with the lights out. Maybe nothing bad will happen. Maybe it is all just child's play and nothing more. Then again...

He just said the money was restitution in exchange for me not saying anything else about speedyprep.

Yes, I did verify the he is with speedyprep. He is the owner or manager. Can't remember which. Kinda funny, he still introduced himself as Shawn from CollegePlus even though we know he is not with CollegePlus. ryany- I do agree that CollegePlus staff is always very polite. That is partially why I was so shocked at Shawn's behavior after claiming to work for them.
Really the guy had to do some digging to get my info. I thought rmr was a pretty vague username. I do have it where people can email me, but Yahoo keeps the email address private. I thought I was being pretty safe. I never mention my name or anything. But I guess if there's a will, there's a way.
