Check it out:

im in an nonstop epic battle choosing between Excelsior and Charter Oak.

I don't care one bit what my bachelors degree is in: General Studies, Liberal Studies, Stripping Studies - whatever - i just want that piece of paper from an accreditted college

So here it is:
i sent in my app to Excelsior and it looks like i only need 21 more UL credits (including capstone)
So i could just take Business Ethics DSST / Rise & Fall DSST / the ALEKS Intro Stats / World Pop ECE / Literacy Instruction Elementary ECE / and then the capstone.
So 4 more tests, one ALEKS course, and the required cap.

So that seemed all nice and dandy, but then I looked more into Charter Oak - and they only require 18 UL credits for the Individualized/Liberal Studies concentration (including capstone) - and I have 9 right now (Substance Abuse, Business Law II, and Civil War) -
So assuming they accept everything like Excelsior did - i would only need to take Business Ethics and Rise and Fall only and then the capstone
So 2 tests and the required cap.

So it seems like it would be a no-brainer - go with COSC
but it looks like theyre hella anal about whether or not you can choose to do Individualized Studies

So - anybody with experience thats received or is goin for Individualized Studies can give me any pointers into convincing those guys to give me that concentration?

thanx yas!

I am also interested in hearing feedback regarding COSC degree planning.

How many ALEKS courses will COSC take?

Will COSC take all ACE-approved Straighterline courses as during their initial partnership the 'second semester' courses were not being taken by COSC. Does anyone know if this has changed in light of the ACE review?

COSC has a policy regarding the order of exams taken. So, if someone takes a more advanced psychology course, then later takes intro to psychology to get extra credit, credit will not be awarded for the introductory course. This is a particular concern when trying to satisfy a depth and the first exam taken in that depth was of a level which bars the student from testing out the rest of the depth!

COSC has a 3cr communications requirement (public speaking, etc) and also, I think, an ethics requirement (fair enough).

There's more personal feedback and experience info for EC and TESC compared to COSC available. It would be interesting to hear from anyone who is able to add anything regarding their Associates or Bachelors from COSC.

Finally, COSC charges comparable fees to EC and both are favourable compared to TESC. Being able to afford an education is great but choice is even better Smile
Thanks guys.

As of June 30 COSC changed their requirements and now requires 30UL credits in total. If you matriculated before then, then the 18UL plan applies. The website isn't extremely clear about this.
I got approved for Individualized Studies, its just a matter of being able how to explain how each grouping relates to the other, at least to the extent that it will be useful to you.
They will accept ALEKs for College Algebra and above, don't know on Straighterline, and you definitely have to take the Intro or base courses first. I tried taking Social Science and History after already accumulating a bunch of History credits and they said no way.
