TESC Now Counts CLEP Financial Accounting As 3 Credits Instead of 6 - Levi - 05-27-2010 CLEP Financial Accounting is a relatively new exam.... A couple of years ago, it replaced the older CLEP Accounting exam, which covered both financial accounting and managerial accounting. Thomas Edison, in their 2009 College Catalog states that the new CLEP Financial Accounting test will count for 6 credits, just like the old test. Well, I just got my TESC evaluation today, and it says that the new CLEP only satisfies Accounting 101, and that I still need to take Accounting 102 (Managerial Accounting). Apparently, they've decided that the exam is now worth only 3 credits instead of 6. I know there is no CLEP or DSST exam to satisfy the required Accounting 102, so, unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to have to take the online course from Thomas Edison! :willynilly: TESC Now Counts CLEP Financial Accounting As 3 Credits Instead of 6 - jody28 - 05-27-2010 Hi Levi, I don't think this change to the exam is that recent, but either way, you'll have to get managerial accouting done. I did it through Straighterline. There are several threads on that topic already. It's more flexible than taking a class, but it was no fun! Good luck! Jody TESC Now Counts CLEP Financial Accounting As 3 Credits Instead of 6 - billchrz - 05-27-2010 Take it at Straighterline instead. I made sure to search the forums before I posted this, but didn't come up with anything relevant (I didn't realize Straighterline offered Accounting). I now have found a Straighterline Accounting thread. On that thread, you said that you paid $237 (plus the book) for the 3 credits. Correct? How long did it take you overall to finish the course? Since I have already taken the CLEP, I would only be interested in taking Straighterline Accounting II. TESC Now Counts CLEP Financial Accounting As 3 Credits Instead of 6 - jody28 - 05-27-2010 Hi Levi, with Straighterline you have the option to pay $299 per course or $99 per month. I paid $99 for the first month and $39 for the specific course. I did not buckle down and get it done in a month, so I paid another $99 for a second month. So I paid $237 for the course. I mostly study on Saturdays and Sundays, so I think it took me a little longer than average. I took 5 entire weekends of studying to complete the course over a 6 week timespan. I got a B and worked very hard for it. It's annoying that I know that the points I missed were more or less trick questions or even a few questions with no correct answer or something like that. It had nothing to do the knowledge. It's frustrating, but I just wanted to move on and a B was good enough. I'm a pretty slow study, others have completed this course much faster than me. It won't be fun, but it's doable. And I think you can do it in one month, if you buckle down. The Straighterline thread has lots of valuable feedback. I didn't discover some of that until after I tanked my first quiz. I should have known better!! Jody |
