Has anyone taken classes @ Fort Hays State??? - mlwilliamsiv - 05-26-2010 Hello. I'm trying to get some feedback from people who have actually taken classes at FHSU (NOT STRAIGHTERLINE COURSES). I'm looking into taking classes at FHSU instead of Excelsior for three reasons. Number 1...they went up on their tuition $20 bucks per credit (even with the partnership discount...so now it's $810 per course). Number 2...FHSU is only $168 per credit hour and I may get more back from financial aid. Number 3...I really don't like all the interaction I have to do with Excelsior classes. It really does take up alot of time and I prefer to handle online classes differently if possible. If it turns out that FHSU Virtual College classes are the same as Excelsior then I'll just choke it up and deal with it. But depending on how my financial aid works out...I may just take my classes with FHSU and transfer the credits into Excelsior. Thanks for your help in advance! From a loyal degree seeker, Marshall Has anyone taken classes @ Fort Hays State??? - FHSU Virtual College - 06-08-2010 Hi Marshall, It's good to hear that you're interested in Fort Hays State University's Virtual College! As you may know, our Virtual College allows you to take a class or earn a bachelor's or master's degree - all on your own schedule, from your own home and at a price you can afford. All of our classes are fully accredited and taught by the same outstanding faculty who teach on campus, so you know you're getting a quality education. Our courses are delivered through an online program called Blackboard, where students check their grades, submit assignments and post to discussion boards. These are real courses that require real work and our students do have to interact via discussion boards, however I believe you would be very happy at FHSU and I know your finances would appreciate the break on tuition! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact us at 785.628.4291 or virtualcollege@fhsu.edu. Has anyone taken classes @ Fort Hays State??? - FHSU Virtual College - 06-09-2010 Many students use FHSU's Virtual College to complete degrees that they've started at another institution. We welcome transfer credits from all regionally accredited institutions. We also offer credit for military experience or credit-by-exam. Feel free to call 785.628.4222 and speak to one of our degree analysts. They can verify whether or not the credits you wish to transfer are acceptable at FHSU. If / when you decide to transfer to FHSU, you would simply need to have all official transcripts sent directly from the institution(s) you previously attended to our registrars office to get started. To graduate with a bachelorâs degree from FHSU, students must earn a minimum total of 124 credit hours. Generally speaking, the last 30 of these hours must be earned directly from FHSU. We do follow a traditional university schedule with fall, spring and summer semesters, however within these semesters you're able to take anywhere from 3 to 15 credit hours at a time. If you choose to take more than 15 hours per semester, this can be accepted per the chair / dean. If interested, the enrollment deadline for our fall 2010 semester is August 11 and you can fill out our online application at any time at Admissions If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us at 785.628.4291 or virtualcollege@fhsu.edu.
