6 DSSTS, 6 CLEP so far. Passed them all-- my first one was Intro Psych and I got a 50! But I have gotten progressively better Smile

I passed all mine with high scores. I think a 68 was my lowest score on a CLEP.
The secret to my success is the REA books. Read them all the way through, do all the tests and reread the answers to the ones you get wrong.
Focus on those.
Don't be afraid to spend a whole weekend or two reading and studying. Knowing this material well will help you in successive tests and in later course work and life in general. 20 hours spent studying for a CLEP is alot better than spending an entire semester driving to class, parking, sitting in the chair, taking tests, doing assignments and group projects.

I have taken 5 CLEPs and 3 DSSTs and passed them all. I think my lowest score was a 63. The only thing I paid for was InstantCert. I also used the feedback forum and free sources on the internet.

At our community college, the pass rate is 80%. They encourage students to study for the test. My son has passed 12 CLEPs, 2 APs, and 2 DSSTs, all above B level. I agree with ryoder that REA books are key to passing CLEPs.

My first CLEP was Marketing. I got a 69. I did not know about IC then, or other "condensed" study methods. I just knew I needed to start testing. I grabbed a book and read 99 percent of it, did the review questions and memorized a lot. That took a long time and it was not pleasant at all. Had I known about IC then, I might have received a similar score, but much of my time would have been saved. Also, although I like to have several study sources on hand, IC is great because it prepares your mind for an EXAM whereas a book is just feeding you information.

Really? Did they tell you that or do they publish that somewhere? I'm curious.

I asked the testing center director and he did a quick calculation for me. It's not officially published.

I asked because I wondered how a center worker would know, and why they would care. Not being trite, I'm serious, they don't really have a reason to look at scores unless they're being nosy, it's not like they are allowed. Now I'm curious about privacy and/or confidentiality.....hummm.
