I got my associates from these jokers at excelsior and I couldn't be happier, sure it isn't the fanciest things i have ever seen but it came in a nice leather (looking) folder, and it was twice the size of my high school diploma, besides it is a symbol of the education you earned at excelsior. Excelsior is a no frills school. If you want fancy go to an ivy league school, if you want a degree from a school quickly and cheaply online, you are going to get a plane jane diploma.
honestly I do not see the issue here, I don't know about you guys but i didn't go to college to get things to hang on my wall, i went for better employment opportunities, if you want something cool to hang on your wall for to bed bath and beyond or something, ill be happy with a pay raise.

For some of us, this degree has taken a long time to accomplish...for whatever reasons...and it is something we are proud of accomplishing. Another reason for the disgust in this cheesy diploma is the fact that we paid $480 dollars, or more, for "Graduation Fees" and received nothing for our hard-earned money but this "diploma". I can appreciate what you said about EC being a "no-frills" school...they are...but that doesn't excuse them from printing up something as simple as a respectable diploma. My high school diploma, while smaller, has more class than my college diploma; something doesn't quite add up here.
Everyone goes to college for different reasons, some to fulfill a goal or a dream, some to make someone proud of them, and others just to better educate themselves. You have chosen to go to make more money. While there is nothing wrong with that; there is with you slamming others because you don't agree with them. Please temper your responses and keep in mind that this forum is based on tolerance; other people may just have a different opinion from your own.
Good luck in completing you Bachelors, I'm sure it will get you that pay raise you're after.

:o sorry if i came off a little strong, that was not my intention at all. I actually though i was being a little funny but sadly as my wife tells me (frequently) no one gets my humor. I do understand your complaint and I did not mean to hurt anyones feelings. I agree that the graduation fees are outrageous but when your the only game in town they can do what they want, for what they charge you would think that seal on the diploma was made of actual gold. Once again I am sorry for sounding mean, I think next time i post with so much sarcasm i will have to use more smiley so it is clear I am not trying to be a jerk.

I must apologize as well if I came across as complaining about the diploma. It will actually look very nice in a frame and will serve as a warning to my kids to not wait until after 30 to finish college. We promise we will be good."
I would like it to look nicer but I do understand that the college has decided already. No probelm here. It is really the transcripts that matter most, no employer really cares about the sheepskin certificate.
I must say however bigjim that I will settle for a happy medium between a good education and a nice diploma. I think I got the education part nailed, I'm still working on the certificate... Welcome aboard mate.

after reading all of your post i went back and looked at my diploma, and to my dismay i was a little upset when i noticed that the signature on it wasnt real, in fact is was very poor jpeg version of a signature. The least they can do it make it look nice.

Not wanting to hijack this thread, may I just say that your sister-in-law should know better BECAUSE she is in HR. If she doesn't know the difference between a regionally accredited degree and a non-accredited "write-away" diploma, then she needs further training HERSELF.
Furthermore, if she IS aware of the difference between the two, she has no business trying to make you feel bad. A good HR person builds up rather than pulls down; encourages rather than discourages; increases self-esteem rather than lowering it.
If I were her boss, I would give her a good talking to.
