a little WGU MBA review.... - rebel100 - 05-30-2013 Just learned that once you drop below the "full time" number of credits (as you approach the end of your degree) WGU will drop the cost of a semesters tuition. In other words 8 credits is considered full time and there are 33 credits in the MBA, Tuition is $3250/semester. Lets say you finish 29 credits, but run out of time to start the last six....your next semester is 1/2 off, It would only cost you $1625 for those last 4 credits. Something to keep in mind if your getting close but fear you won't finish in time. a little WGU MBA review.... - rebel100 - 06-02-2013 Man...Finance is tedious! I think I'm suddenly getting my money's worth from WGU...I'm having to fill in big gaps in my accounting knowledge. I just ran through what feels like an exhaustive company analyses for this 1st task, probably took 10+ hours....it's only 8 pages so far and I'm only about half done! It isn't "hard"... just hard to stay on such a long task. a little WGU MBA review.... - namwen - 06-02-2013 rebel100 Wrote:Man...Finance is tedious! I'm very interested in hearing more about this courses as you go along. a little WGU MBA review.... - rebel100 - 06-29-2013 Uggh, There are 5 tasks in Financial Analyses.....this IS NOT A HARD CLASS....but I am having monumental trouble finding any desire to close with this course and defeat it. I've formulated 10 dense pages in response to task 1, yet feel like it's all wrong. I'm now facing several questions on SOX compliance and I don't know where to begin! This is following a writing intensive week at work as I finalized (re-wrote) an after action report for a county wide drill and polished off my employers Homeland Security Grant reimbursement paperwork. I also had a ton of video to sort through in the last several days, led an investigation that culminated in the arrest of a crazy stalker guy yesterday. On Monday this past week I had a cardiac stress test that got stopped when my blood pressure went to high for the test to continue (240/120...nice right?!)...next week I get to do it again, but like an elderly guy with bad knees....they will induce stress with dobutamine while I lay on a table....lots to look forward to. I'm so freaking aggravated....anyone should be able to knock out a WGU MBA in a year, the motivated should be able to do it in a tense 6 months.....I think I'm going to fall into a 3rd semester. This sux right now! a little WGU MBA review.... - KayV - 06-29-2013 *Maybe* some people could finish a WGU MBA in a year- if they didn't have a whole bunch of Life Happening, High-Pressure Job Happening to deal with too. Grad school-level classes are not as easy as undergrad and some take longer to complete. I think you're doing a fabulous job on your progress! I hope you can give yourself permission to not stress over it too much. a little WGU MBA review.... - GoodYellowDogs - 06-29-2013 Okay, I think a tense 6 months without a job... maybe. A year... with a job... okay. But your life, I'm amazed you are doing it as well and as fast as you are doing it! Hang in there! I've only had 5 tests left for my BS for the last year... and just can't get motivated! a little WGU MBA review.... - namwen - 06-29-2013 Don't be too hard on yourself. You'll get it rolling soon. a little WGU MBA review.... - rebel100 - 06-29-2013 Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words. For better or worse Finance Task 1 is submitted. Never been more sure that a task would be coming back for revision but the graders can surprise you from time to time so fingers are crossed. ![]() Task 2 looks considerably less daunting: " A. Prepare a summary report in which you do the following: 1. Discuss budgetary items that raise concern in the budget planning. 2. Evaluate the flexible budget and its variances. a. Recommend corrective actions for areas of concern based on a variance analysis. b. Discuss how the concept of management by exception could be applied to the variance" Tasks 3 and 4 look pretty doable as well......task 5 is basically 1-4 all over again for a different company! Yipee!!!! a little WGU MBA review.... - rebel100 - 06-29-2013 GoodYellowDogs Wrote:Okay, I think a tense 6 months without a job... maybe. A year... with a job... okay. I'm only at 12 pages and some classmates report going over 30 on this task, guess I kept it tight at least! ![]() |
