I asked them about this, and they told me it was just a review of their currently approved courses. =(

If they could get the Chemistry course ACE approved it would be outstanding! I know lots of people changing careers going back to school to pursue nursing/allied health degrees who have Chem credit that is now too old.

There are product now where you can take labs virtually.

Even if you did have to go to a B&M school for the 1 hour lab credit haveing the course credit out of the way so you could free up your time for other prereqs would be a boon.

Of course this would work best for people who've have a good high school or college science foundation....

I'd love to see this happen. I am nearly finished with Intro Chem, but I want gen 1 and 2 credit. I don't know how easy it would be to get ALEKS chem on a transcript, and for someone needing 8 cr, this might not fit the bill. In any event, I'm still on board. I think a great way to use this would be for a school that we know takes ACE courses or as prep for CLEP. Even still, I'm not 100% sure a person could get "lab" credit for the ALEKS chem....but we can hope Smile

I think we all ough to email them to request an ACE Evaluation of the Chemistry course, to show the demand.

So far I've read through page 25 of this thread.

I found the link for the month's free trial of ALEKS.

ALEKS

Is the free trial still working? If I use it will I get the same access as those who pay the $20? Basically I'm asking if I get my 70% assesment score can I still submit if to ACE if I use the free trial?

Thanks.

I don't know if the trial is still good, but if you are on a free trial you can still complete the class inside that time- thus your credit is free Smile

We also need someone who would be willing to be a guinea pig by trying to work through the ALEKS Chemistry course materials and then taking the Chemistry CLEP for credit. It would be nice to know how well ALEKS would work to prepare for the exam. (I do wonder if ALEKS focuses on problem-solving more that the CLEP exam does.)

I might go ahead and do that for you.

I took College Chemistry for the first time in the 90's at a B&M school. I got a D in Chem I but was able to sneak into Chem II and get a C because the registrar did not pay attention.

I took Chem I again this past semester and got an A. If I can't get that old Chem II class to transfer, I may have to use ALEKS to prepare for the Chem CLEP.

SunnyJohn, that would be great! We'll be cheering for you!

I hope ALEKS will be all-inclusive, but if you find that you need more resources, I have posted a lot of links in my feedback for the Chemistry CLEP.

My 15 year old is going to take this in the fall, but I'm not sure which one. Has anyone noticed that they have 2 full courses- the first says 2 semesters, but the second one only lists 3 classes and they call them "first quarter, second quarter, third quarter" which makes me wonder- where is 4th quarter?? Anyway, I'll have him take the CLEP at the end of the year.
