I started taking Sophia classes and didn’t know that UMPI does not have a computer science program. There's only one programming course available in the YourPace programming and it's for those in the BLS Management Information Systems degree. It's a course on VB. They are launching an ON CAMPUS computer science program in January. All of their online degrees are found here not on the main UMPI website: https://online.umpi.edu/ I would not expect an online program any time soon. The learning platform they use does not offer any IT degrees. Their degrees use the Strut Learning Platform. MIS is a minor in the BLS degree. There are 6 courses required and they offer every course required for their degrees. You don't have unlimited access to any courses. Once you're an enrolled student, they want you to take their classes. If you take classes outside of the school without permission, they may not accept the transfer credit. Also just because you take a course doesn't mean that there's a place for it on your degree audit. You should definitely speak to your advisor about this. They should have emailed you the degree audit sheet which shows what you have left to complete.Yeah I know what I need to take because of degree audit and I looked at the transfer equivalence someone posted for Sophia so I matched those up for what I have to take still. Can you post which courses are available in the MIS that you can take as elective because I see the curriculum and they said "Students must take 62 credit hours of general elective courses." so everyone can have an idea. RE: UMPI - elenlushk - 12-24-2020 Are there any fees for YourPace students other than the $1400 per session tuition? I think it's 1400 and that's it! I'm aiming to attend UMPI myself. I'm praying they are generous with my credit transfer ::fingers crossed:: RE: UMPI - gams007 - 12-24-2020 (12-24-2020, 10:31 AM)adegree4me Wrote:(12-24-2020, 09:22 AM)elenlushk Wrote: Are there any fees for YourPace students other than the $1400 per session tuition? But, why would you want to do that? Do you have a specific plan in mind? RE: UMPI - rachel83az - 12-24-2020 Unless you want a specific TESU degree, UMPI is going to be cheaper to just take everything through them. But TESU does have transfer equivalencies for UMPI. https://www.tesu.edu/admissions/transfer-credit So this could technically be cheaper than getting RA credit through even TEL Learning but it'd be an awful lot of work to complete 8 courses in 1 term. That's not a bad plan. Once you finish a UMPI bachelor's degree, all of your TESU GE & Free Electives will be waived (including the cornerstone) so you will only need to complete the AOS & Capstone (39cr total). If you can complete any of the requirements there at UMPI (no idea what they offer), then you can bring in up to 15cr to the AOS. Either way, the remaining courses can be completed via alternative means, and then your tuition and fees at TESU would be $5097 - not bad for a BACS degree.
