GRE Countdown! - TMW2010 - 05-08-2010 Well, I'll find out in 3-4 weeks what they'll award for the earned credits... Depending on what is left over, I've found relatively inexpensive ways to cover what's left (not including the 2 classes I'm going to be taking anyway for my Credit Obligation) so that'll make things easier - if they allow certain DSSTs & CLEPs for some of the requirements... So we shall see... GRE Countdown! - P00057870 - 05-08-2010 Knew I was not really ready. Like others, just too much on my plate at the time but decided to go anyway and see what it was all about. :p GRE Countdown! - NAP - 05-09-2010 TMW2010 Wrote:Well, I'll find out in 3-4 weeks what they'll award for the earned credits... Alissa put this into very good perspective. You have accomplished a lot with one exam. I'm proud of you for looking at your new options already. Having just 3 exams and 2 courses left to take sounds very achievable. I think you should talk with your advisor about your results and next steps this week. I don't see why you would have to wait for the official transcript. GRE Countdown! - TMW2010 - 05-09-2010 NAP Wrote:Alissa put this into very good perspective. How come you got your score already? Did you pay a fee? I looked up ETS web site after seeing your post. I didn't know that scores would be available by phone on the 10th. Wheew! I thought I had to wait until the 21st (mailing date) ![]() EDIT: Well, I called and I forked over my $12 to get my results, and what a huge disappointment it is: 650/63%. TMW2010, you're not alone! ![]() I felt that I had done much better than that and that the test wasn't so bad when I took it; an additional proof--if it was needed--that this is a tricky test. I never finished the prep program that I had set out to follow due to time constraints but I felt good enough on the day of the test. Now I'll have to figure out how many credits that score brings my way and how I can make up the difference. The question that immediately comes to mind is whether or not all of the missing Psychology credits to be made up can be earned by exam. Otherwise it could be a very costly proposition. I still think that this test is good bang for the bucks, from 12 credits up. W. GRE Countdown! - WeAintGotNoBadges - 05-10-2010 Damage control...Here's some additional info credits-wise. I talked with an EC advisor and it looks like my score would be good--unofficially-- for 21 credits (12 LL, 9UL): this is a relief... Edit: I already have a stats course that applies to my major so the consequence of my low GRE score is to take 2 other psy course or exams, one of which needs to be EC's Social Science Research 465 (SOC465) or its equivalent ECE exam. And I'll be able to take the last 3 credits via the CLEP or DANTES of my choice. W. I think this is a great score! Earning 21 credits--and 9 upper level!!! (I thought it would be 12LL and 6UL, but it's always up to EC) and you did it for about a third of the price of one ECE which would only be worth 3 or so upper level! It's amazing, really. Quote:I still think that this test is good bang for the bucks, from 12 credits up. Agreed. I especially think this test is worth it for any score above the 55th-ish percentile, you get 3 upper level credits and fulfill a depth requirement with one exam at that point. It's worth taking a chance on it just for that, imho. I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions for your dilemma, if it were me I'd just take all the upper level DSSTs and get out with a cheap major in Liberal Studies, then focus on something more specific in grad school. Even if you do decide to take one $1000 class, you saved so much money with the credits you earned from the GRE that you overall cost should still be quite low, compared to what you'd have paid without the GRE. Good job, congratulations! GRE Countdown! - WeAintGotNoBadges - 05-10-2010 alissaroot Wrote:I think this is a great score! Earning 21 credits--and 9 upper level!!! Thanks for the kind words. I agree that it ain't so bad. But I was fairly confident that I had made at least the minimum required score, so that made the disappointment worse. EDIT: I confirmed that can take PSYX*365 RESEARCH METHODS IN PSYCHOLOGY to satisfy the upper social research requirement. W.
