Transcript Review - Help, which of the big 3? - LaterBloomer - 05-19-2013 JohnnyHeck, Thank you for the detailed advice. If there was some book series for the chronically stupid, it would probably help me. I've got the Idiot's guide for stats, and the Dummies workbook, and those are in addition to a couple of other books, and I'm still not getting the concepts. With the Dummies workbook, I thought I saw a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. Of course, it was a train that ran me over. I'm grateful that TESC lowered it's math requirement. Although it was back when dinosaurs wandered the world, I at least took two years of that in high-school. I think Aleks will have to be the path the that. Miracles will have to be the path to statistics credit, however. Thank you so much for the clear and concise advice. Transcript Review - Help, which of the big 3? - LaterBloomer - 05-19-2013 Darn, Andrewtn. It looks as though prior relationship with math and algebra was much more recent than mine. Well, I'll sign up for Aleks and see where it takes me. I've frequently read in these posts about Aleks hell, and I suppose I should visit it at least once. Transcript Review - Help, which of the big 3? - sanantone - 05-19-2013 It helps to view video tutorials before taking on ALEKS. I did not have the patience to relearn algebra almost from scratch through ALEKS. I used Annenberg videos, but the Khan Academy videos cover more ground and are more detailed. Transcript Review - Help, which of the big 3? - LaterBloomer - 05-19-2013 Thanks, Sanatone. My first foray into the Annenberg videos was for stats, and as easy as she tries to make it, I'm still missing it. As to the Khan videos, I used them a bit for the M&B exam, and they were helpful. Unfortunately, I can't figure out the order of them for stats. I feel as though I'm floundering with stats, and it's frustrating as all get out. You know what I'd do if I did this all over again? I'd start with the hard exams. It would have been all down hill from there. As it is, I feel like a long-distance runner who is so close to the finish line she could see it if there weren't a mountain in her way. I cannot begin to tell you how angry I am with myself. Transcript Review - Help, which of the big 3? - JohnnyHeck - 05-19-2013 If your willing to stick through ALEKS you will make it! You are not dumb otherwise you would have given up your goal by now. With ALEKS you cannot fail and there is no time pressure. Have you thought about a private tutor to get you over some of the bumps? Transcript Review - Help, which of the big 3? - LaterBloomer - 05-20-2013 JohnnyHeck, You know that commercial when a person slaps his/her forehead (or has it slapped for him/her!), and says, "I could have had ...?" that's exactly how I'm feeling. Duh. When I did an Internet search to learn how to use my statistics calculator, I came across a video of this wonderful tutor in Florida and he did an excelent job of showing how to use the calculator. With modern technology, I'm going to see if he does long-distance tutoring. Thank you. Transcript Review - Help, which of the big 3? - andrewtn - 06-10-2013 Just updating on my progress... It was about 1 month ago (May 8th) when I started this thread, posting all my CC credits and looking for some help and direction. Thanks to the great support from this forum and a lot of hard work I've since earned 21 credits, all in about 1 month, and none of these were FEMA. Today is my birthday and this morning I celebrated by passing the Principles of Mgmt CLEP with a 68! I applied to TESC about 1 month ago and I'm still waiting to hear on the eval. Hopefully I hear something soon. Meanwhile, it's on to studying for the Into to Bus Law CLEP. Thank you everyone for your help! I certainly wouldn't be making the progress I am without this forum and your support! Completed In the Past Month:- CLEP A&I Literature - 70 - 6 credits - DSST Business Ethics in Society - 462 - 3 credits - ALEKS College Algebra - 3 credits - ALEKS Intro to Stats - 3 credits - Penn Foster - Principles of Finance - A - 3 credits - CLEP - Principles of Mgmt CLEP - 3 Credits Transcript Review - Help, which of the big 3? - JohnnyHeck - 06-10-2013 Congratulations on your fantastic progresss and a Happy Birthday too! Transcript Review - Help, which of the big 3? - LaterBloomer - 06-10-2013 Andrewtn, Happy birthday! What a great gift you've given yourself with all of those credits done in a month. Finally, call TESC. Although it was April, and before the end-of-year crunch, my evaluations were done very quickly. In addtion, I get set of e-mails each week saying that they have been evaluated. (I don't know if Carl likes me, has me on auto-pilot, or is pretending he's doing more evaluations than he's really doing by sending out e-mails to me each week on the same evaluations.) Good luck.
