Amberton's tuition is only $285 per credit so it wouldn't make sense to spend more on courses at FHSU to transfer them to Amberton. I didn't do any of the VESI courses because they seemed like a lot of writing and I didn't find them to be all that cheap. The Prof Dev degree at Amberton isn't for teachers. I mean it's cool that they'll accept some credits from VESI but I didn't find them to be interesting to me as I'm not interested in teaching. Amberton's tuition is also really cheap for grad school and I wanted all the business courses I could get. VESI classes won't help lots of people with their careers.

Yes - you can earn a certificate, or or more, as part of the MA Professional Development degree. I will end up with at least one of their graduate certificates.

Yes you can complete certificates as well. There are no additional fees for the certificates either. You can complete multiple certificates as well.

Congratulations. The MS in Human Relations and Business is a very flexible business degree.

I took the Christian Ethics (RGS6036) version with Jerry Van Hamme. I choose it for the simple reason that I was able to get my hands on a 2nd hand copy of the textbook for $10 (at the time); you did need it for some reference work (exams).  I enjoyed the course far more than I would have expected, and learned more than expected as well. His lectures were very well done - thought provoking.  It is more a course of how Christianity has impacted the laws (worldwide, and current) than a course on Christianity - and discuses how some (people) will bend the original Christian text (bible) to their own version to make it fit their personal agenda (things get taken out of context). In summary, it is not a preaching of Christianity course - that the textbook title might lead you to believe.

There are different versions of the Theory and Application of Research Methods (RGS6035) as well, based on weight of exams/paper(s) or just written paper(s). I had to drop this course a few times due to pandemic related work demands, but ended up completing it with Dr. Jonathan Schultz - who offered the exam/paper blended version.  It was the right choice for me.

Thank you for the insightful response on the Ethics course. I’m taking it with Jerry van Hamme also so this is perfect!  Where do you get your books? I’m someone who likes real books so I was going to grab it also and it’s not at my library. 

When ss20ts said he really like the informational session, I hopped on the next one they had and I remember him saying the library people were really great so I hopped into that breakout room and Dr Joe Pendleton was in there. He was very enthusiastic and we had a great convo so I chose him for my Theory and Application course. Did you happen to have him in one of your efforts to take the class?

I'm not sure what the required first 2 courses are. The RGS courses? The research one I transferred in. The ethics one I'm in right now. I have the non-religious version. It's been very interesting and thought provoking. Lots of writing but it's grad school so that should be expected. There was only 1 book we needed. I got mine on Amazon for under $10. It's used but I didn't care. I've referenced it like twice. All of the reading has been giving to us in the course. 

I am taking 2 other courses right now as well. I purchased all of my books through Amazon. A couple I bought the paperback version of because of what they are and I thought I would keep them in my office as reference material. The others I purchased the Kindle version. Whenever I can get a Kindle version of a book I get it. I prefer reading on my phone over anything else. I bring my phone everywhere so I can get in some reading while I am waiting at appointments or whatever. I can also read on my iPad and MacBook since book have the Kindle app. It's cool on my MacBook because I can search. I may be able to search on my iPad. Can't on my iPhone though. 


I have 1 HRT and 2 management courses for the summer session. All the same professor. I had this professor this session and really liked them which is a good thing since they teach several classes I'm interested in. They're even teaching one of my degree requirements this summer. I was super happy to see that. Reading the past syllabus for the courses gives you an idea of the workload and if you really want that professor. There are a couple of classes I was interested in until I read the syllabus. Then I was like NOPE NOPE NOPE. One has multiple videos you have to make of yourself. Not happening. Then you have to share them on YouTube. Hard no for me. So I am super grateful that we can see the syllabus when registering for classes. I put off 1 class because the textbook is $125. I'm hoping in the fall someone else teaches it with a cheaper book. It's a brand new edition so maybe there will be used books available by then at the very least.
