You can send a Parchment transcript to UMPI. It's $5.25. I used the live chat they added it ASAP. Niiice. Sent it to UMPI. I also asked JEssica if I can send that and my Aleks credits over for my transcript. Because I did the trig / precalc on Aleks and felt it'd be nice to have on an official transcript just in case Ibump my head and go into a math field. RE: New Sophia course incoming? - Whitepines - 03-13-2021 Isn't Javascript pretty much done for? It took me about an hour to complete the course and I was making lunch at the same time. I am not a programmer but used to design my own websites back in the day, so am sort of familiar, but by no means an expert. RE: New Sophia course incoming? - rachel83az - 03-13-2021 Pure Javascript, maybe. But JS is still used for AJAX and responsive websites. Vue, React, and Angular are all Javascript libraries that are deal with the front-end and are very popular. Lot's of work and good money if you know it. RE: New Sophia course incoming? - al329 - 03-14-2021 Anyone else not see this new course once they log into Sophia? It's still showing in my Sophia account (but no badge yet). Do you have a generic Sophia account or one associated with a specific school? The definitions were sparse and uninformative. I agree that it felt more like a knowledge check, and not a very good one at that. The milestones were a bit nerve-wracking, IMO, because there were only 6-8 questions and getting just one wrong could drastically lower your grade. Most of the questions were easy/obvious but there were a couple that I felt were tricky and I wasn't 100% confident that I had chosen the correct one. Just completed the course, and I'd have to say that this review is spot on. But as everything on Sophia is open book, I can't see the issue with fewer milestone questions. The low point, as already touched upon here and in other posts upthread, is that some are the questions truly are "tricky". I knew some of the definitions, but the "correct" answers aren't an option...they want you to parrot back the definitions they fed you in the course. That itself isn't really unusual, but I think the problem is magnified because there are so few questions in the course as compared to most. On the plus side, finding this course on offer was a very pleasant surprise. I wanted to have a backup for my IT "AOS", in case another one was not accepted, and this fits the bill very nicely. In terms of credit fodder, I don't see how you can go wrong with it. But it's not really "Intro to Web Development". It's not even laid out in such a way that I would consider it "Foundations of Web Development". In my book, it's best to think of it as "Intro to Intro to Web Development". For whatever its worth, it showed up in Acclaim pretty much instantly. Must be it ... my Sophia always goes to TESU .... https://tesu.sophia.org/home So does that mean if a course is not accepted by TESU, Sophia wont show me the course? If it's not a course that Sophia thinks that TESU takes then they won't show it. The issue is that their list of accepted courses is a bit out of date when it comes to TESU. TESU takes everything at Sophia (so far) except for the Foundations courses and College Readiness. This newest course is a bit of an unknown, because it literally just dropped, but it is likely that they will take it. As far as I'm aware, tesu.sophia.org fails to show more than just these courses. I would suggest contacting support and telling them that you would like to be put on a generic Sophia account and not a TESU one. When signing up for courses, leave the school field blank or they'll just put you back on a TESU account again. |
