Defense Language Institute (DLI) Monterey, CA.

I'm at about 98% correct on Instantcert, watched the whole series "Red Empire" (Which, although a little slow, correlated nicely with Instantcert) and read the whole Wikipedia section on the USSR...AM I READY?

Any hints or advice?

You should do fine soldierboy! Although nobody but you can truly know whether you are ready or not. How do you feel?

I would spend your remaining time looking up various terms, events, and key names on Wikipedia.

In the last days before my exam, I learned a LOT of additional little details by reading various articles on Wikipedia such as "Gorbachev", "Lenin", "Stalin", "SDLP", "Russo-Japanese War", "Glasnost". "Warsaw Pact", "NATO", "Trotsky", "Marxism" etc. (you get the idea).

This exam tests lots of obscure details and little tidbits of information that you might come across by reading more in-depth articles about specific names, places, events etc. Everything extra you can read between now and the exam might equal a few bonus points on your exam.

Hope that helps,
Snazzlefrag

Sounds like you're nearly or at the ready - I used similar material but also added the Sparknotes on the Russian Revolution that were a huge asset as a good portion of the exam is based on that era. GOOD LUCK!!

Hi Crystal,

I am sorry to respond so late but I seem to have missed your post. I am pursuing Liberal Arts and a BS in Business also. I originally had a lot of business credits so I did not want to waste them. After this I will go on to a Masters program, not sure which yet. I am in IT and that is where I will stay, I think the degree will help open some doors down the road. I have taken Civil War, Money & Banking (no score yet!) and will take USSR test on Monday. As far as my depths are concerned, History and Technology. Good Luck!

To all who have been posting about "R&F of USSR" THANK YOU! I took the MIS yesterday and started preparing for this one. I have 2 more to follow (Civili War and Intro to Psych) and will have my BS. I have already completed and passed Drug & Alcohol Abuse, Here's to Your Health, & Ethics in America. The rest of my credits have been semi-traditonal. I am trying to do this HUGE one before burn out sets in.

Mostly, I just want to say thanks for the direction. It is so hard to know what info to focus on when the subjects are so extensive with minute details.

Again,
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!

Ursula

Ok guys-
Took USSR yesterday-It was a very tough test...My advice, do a little more in-depth on the Tsarist regimes...Study the Premiers, not just the General Secretaries...Dive a little deeper into the pacts and treaties.

I walked out thinking I bombed, but after sleeping on it, I figure I passed (barely)...

I'm taking US History next week, then Nazi Germany the week after, then I am done with my depth requirement and consequently, my degree!

Then I start degree #2...The fun never ends...

Good luck.
