gremlinbrawler Wrote:This company sounds like they might become one of our favorites! I would definitely consider taking some courses from them since we've been having so much trouble with study.com. The prices are slightly higher depending on how many courses you are taking but it really depends on your circumstances. I'm personally really focused on finishing my degree fast right now because in a way time is money for me. I really don't want to start working full time again until I finish my degree so the faster I do that the faster I can start making more money. Not everyone is in the same boat as me but it really depends on the person and I think there are many people that might use them despite the price. And like they said, hopefully they're one of the big boys someday and can lower their prices even more. Their customer service looks promising based on their answers on the forums.
I'll definitely consider them especially for those upper level courses.

Also I don't know if you guys are big enough to be able to do this but if you were able to work with TESU to make a transfer page like study.com that would be super awesome.

You are not the only one waiting to go back full time until after they finish their degree Smile

Ed4Credit Wrote:Hi Gemlinbrawler, Ed4Credit is one of the newest companies in this field so I don't know if anyone in this forum has taken a course from us or not yet. You can get a syllabus for each course off our website if you want to see what is involved in any course. We do use textbooks but they are all included in the cost and are embedded in the class. The only courses that have an additional cost are the science labs and then you just need to purchase the lab kit for $98 but the each lab is only $65. All the courses have module quizzes that you can take twice and a proctored final you can take once. You do get your grade automatically when you finish a test. You have to make a 70% or better on the module quizzes. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

upper level. Upper level. Upper level. You're currently in a crowded pond, if you want to capture - err dominate- the market, you need to offer what SL and Study do not: UPPER LEVEL.

Ed4Credit Wrote:Hi All, there are a number of factors in our pricing.

1) We are a small mom & pop company. My husband and I own Ed4Credit. Study and SL have deeper pockets and financial backing that we don't have. Maybe someday we can be one of the big boys too. LOL Wink

2) For a company that doesn't currently offer subscriptions, we are one of the cheapest (i.e. Sophia, Propero, etc.). If you are planning to take a number of courses per month, you will be better off with Study or SL, but if you don't have the time for that, our courses come out better. If you take one course with SL ($99 + $49 + Textbook) and/or you take longer than a month to do the class, we are cheaper. The same goes for Study if you only take one class per month, they are $199 per month. If you only have time to complete one course per month Ed4Credit is the answer. BTW... when you sign up for one of our courses you have up to 120 days (4 months) to get it complete (just in case "life" happens).

So with that alll said, we are cheaper if you are only taking one course per month or if you want longer to finish a class. It's all in your perspective! LOL Big Grin

Tell us more about the history of how your company came to be. I'm sure back in the early part of 2000 my IL community college offered Ed4Credit online courses, and my current NC community college offers tons of them.... of course none hold ACE eval, so I can see that being new, but did you guys buy out the company or what?

I appreciate the fact that you're a small company, but I agree with cookderosa - you need to specialize in something (like Propero does with CJ courses) or else offer UL courses. But honestly, offering the same exact courses that everyone else offers at a higher price is NOT going to get you where you want to go. You don't stand out in a crowded field. Offering courses that no one else offers is what will do it.

I would suggest that you go to TESU or COSC, pick a major, and then make courses for that major. International Business, Cybersecurity, Finance, English, History, Homeland Security, Sociology - whatever. Then, look at what everyone else is offering, and then offer something else. Make it so that you can complete the entire AOS with your courses.

Just my 2 cents, but after several years and thousands of posts on this board, I have a pretty good idea what people want, and it's not another way to take Macroeconomics. We can get that in so many ways it's not funny - from CLEP, Saylor, SL, Study.com, UExcel, Davar, JumpCourse - all for less than you charge.

Thanks for the advice! Smile We have looked at computer courses but they are more difficult to create and keep updated. I will keep my eye out for a good way to do these.

Yes, I do understand that upper level is the "holy grail". We are working with ACE to better understand their expectations for UL courses. At the moment it seems to be an issue of communication and not the courses themselves. Once we understand their criteria better, we hope to focus mainly on UL courses in the future. Big Grin

Ed4Credit is a new company, founded in 2015. We do have another part to our business that offers not-for-credit vocational courses through Adult Continuing Ed departments of colleges, that's Ed4Online. Ed4Online was founded in 2009. There are a number of education companies that work with community colleges to offer the not-for-credit vocational courses. There is a company called Ed2Go that does, maybe you are thinking of them? They are very big and are owned by Cengage, the textbook company. They have been around a long time.

Thanks for the advice! Big Grin I will go to TESU and COSC and look at their degrees. We came to this "For Credit" industry a little backward. Our first step was the ACPE project and they picked the courses they wanted us to create. We were invited to be a part of that and we were the only company that didn't already have ACE CREDIT approval. Once that was done we moved forward with Gen Ed courses to round out our list of basic offerings. Our next round of approvals will be mainly for UL (if ACE agrees) and our focus will be in the Social Sciences. Both my husband and I have degrees in Social Sciences so those are easier for me to "get my head" around. Thanks again for your suggestions!

Lets not forget we lost some course options for physiology recently. A large demand for folks attempting a degree that need a few key offerings and options.

I am not sure what courses could be carried over to Coopersmith but they don't list any currently
