Please stop adding fuel to MA2's fire. Seeing the Navy chevron compliment his comments is quite embarassing and not indicative of the opinions of all Sailors and military members. Military members generally respect civillians, and I have met many wonderful people both in the uniform and out.
MA2, you are entitled to your opinion, however, I believe we have regulations regarding public displays of these opinions especially when they paint a picture of the services in a negative light.

Gentlemen,
With ALL DUE respect, I humbly submit my apologies that I did not capitalize the S when I typed Soldier, and did not know that could matter to someone, and stand corrected, Thank You. The concept of Soldier is so much bigger than the word. This is not just a word, this is an especially trained ability, and a Warrior Extraordinaire!
How can I possibly present to you, how awesome you ALL are to me? Or how much we all need you?
When the word Soldier enters my mind, I can visualize the Major, in my home (during war games), entertained by my family, and his next in Command standing guard at the door, who's eyes never were distracted while he stood at ease, on guard, and never moving. Certainly there were more outside. Quiet, organized, swift. Never saw them.
Later, I remember living on base, and off base. I remember respect, consideration, at the level that doesn't exist in civilian life. I miss that, and maybe that is what I have been missing for a long, long time. Really hard to find that.
Please forgive my mistake. I am truly sorry.

I second what Popcorn said. I have a tremendous respect for our Armed Forces and all my friends that have joined up. No disrespect was meant when I inadvertently spelled Solder lowercase. Its easy to say anything from behind the veil of a computer, and I always try to "think twice and post once" (although it doesn't work out that way all the time
). God bless all of the servicemen and women who continue to lay their lives on the line to protect our heritage and this great country.

Another case-in-point: The first [COLOR="Red"]president of the USA was President Washington. The title "president" is lower case yet when used as a title namesake it becomes UPPER case.[/COLOR]
[COLOR="Navy"]Of course ther are some personal exceptions such as I always use an UPPER case "W" when I spell out Wife. Why? Because she deserves it. Do I believe that soldiers, sailors, airman and marines should/could be spelled with UPPER case "S,S,A, M" sure why not.
On ther other hand, I choose not to ever call a LEO a "cop" (that which I call the "C-word") as I believe it is disrespectful to the (my 30-year) profession. [/COLOR]
