New and need advise!! - cookderosa - 01-26-2008 cookderosa Wrote:>>>> Oh wait- I do understand your question- (I went back and read my post, it was poorly written late last night). What I wanted to say, is that if you end up deciding to enroll in the 6 credit requirement each semester to get financial aid, that you will want to choose those 6 credits from classes that are not available through testing. So- if you want full financial aid- you'll need 6 credits per term x 4 terms = 8 courses. Pick everything that you will need from the 300, or 400 levels since you can't CLEP those. Does that make sense? It seems harder than it is. Speaking for myself, I took every available social science until I ran out of 100/200 level options. My requirement was full- but still needed more credit- so I took classes. It would have been an error on my part to enroll in the class Psych 101 my first semester (even though most people would) because I would waste one of my 8 classes on something I could CLEP. I ended up enrolling in advanced classes while I studied for the intro level CLEPs LOL. You want to maximize your efficiency. Hope that's clear as mud New and need advise!! - mike@kwyk.net - 01-26-2008 You should be fine taking CLEP and DSST tests prior to applying to one of the "Big Three" schools. I took a few CLEPs before applying and got the credit without any problem. I went ahead and specified TESC as my institution when I took the CLEPs even though I had not applied at that time. The only concern is that if you haven't applied and they don't know who you are they might file away your scores and not pick them up when you apply. Application only costs $75.00, so you should be able to do that pretty much any time. Worst case, you can pay CLEP $20.00 to send a transcript.
