I wish there were more cheap UL finance courses available I just feel I need to knock out the BSBA requirements quickly (before I leave the country), and the GM seems to be the best path for that. You bring up spending the math money on finance classes instead. I have considered that. Yeah, I guess Finance isn't as easy to test out of as Accounting. I would rather read a finance article by someone with a Finance or Accounting Bachelor's than a math degree. Math seems pretty different. So, if you can't get the work completed by 7/15, then you missed out on the first course; and then they won't let you take the 2nd one. When they originally did this program, it was 2 years ago (maybe more), so it could be a long time before them come around as live courses again. I don't think you can take these without having taken Calc I & II. So you would certainly be in a time crunch to get those courses completed and then try to catch up to this first course, and ready to move onto the 2nd one right afterwards. Yeah, it's unfortunate. I won't be able to even begin Calc 1 studies until August. I have noticed that there are always new options and paths popping up for getting degrees, and this is the place to learn about them. This EdX thing pops up. I can't take advantage of it, but there will be others. I poked around a little tonight and saw that a community college I went to years back might be an even cheaper AS-Math option for me than San Jacinto College. Possibly under $1000 :/ The math degree, though not pressing right this moment, is something I want to turn over in my mind. In another few weeks I will be very close to having earned my BSBA credits and then it will be time to make the decision. AS in Math, opinions please - sanantone - 05-25-2017 Am I on ignore? Just responding in order of what I see as I work on some late-night ceviche In terms of income, I don't know that ANY degree (the degree, not the education) is going to benefit me all that much. But geez, less than $3000 to get a BSBA from a legit university? And I learn more about management, marketing, religion , and finance? So, yes, the BSBA is better than the math degree, and it DOES get priority. CLEP is an option for the ASNSM. Calc 1 only, right? (I plan on being in Costa Rica right after I finish my BSBA classes, and I don't know that I can CLEP there.) As for the finance options, I will be taking Davar's Corporate Finance. I WANTED to take their Multinational Business Finance, too, and the Money & Banking TECEP. Those would be very enjoyable classes for me, and probably pretty easy. However, I got the Guardian Scholarship, and since Study.com has jack for UL finance, I'm going heavy on their Management offerings. Plus they offer the entrepreneurship class. I didn't have much left to take for the degree, and I opted for cheap. FREE: Religion, Ethics, Principles of Finance, Digital Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behavior $25: Principles of Mgmt, Intro Marketing, Corp Comm, Business Stats $85 or less: Corporate Finance, International Mgmt $117: Strategic Mgmt So $387 for the 38 credit hours I need if I go General Management. $1800 to $2250 residency waiver, $323 graduation, $120 in transcripts. AS in Math, opinions please - sanantone - 05-25-2017 Next month, you can take unlimited Davar exams for $99 plus the proctor fee for each exam. Saylor offers Calculus I if you decide to go with TESU. I don't necessarily follow the consensus on this forum in regards to what degree(s) are best for an individual. Only you know your situation and have an idea of future goals, wants/needs. In a nutshell, it's your money, your time, your life...do with it what you will.Well, really I was looking for WHAT my path options and costs might be for a math degree, not so much SHOULD I pursue it. I probably derailed that by later asking why someone would have a problem delaying filing for graduation for a bachelors degree, so really it's on me :o AS in Math, opinions please - StoicJ - 05-25-2017 sanantone Wrote:Next month, you can take unlimited Davar exams for $99 plus the proctor fee for each exam. Do you know if the Intro Differential course will go into the "B. Theory" part of the ASNSM? Or either of the others? A bunch of us were trying to find a third course that would (along with Calc II and Statistics). For the requirement where they say it can be Calc III (Multivariate Calculus), Linear Algebra (Calculus Based), Discrete Math, Probability, Matrix Algebra, Number Theory. It seems like they might accept other types of courses. In brick & mortar schools, I've seen it broken up into Intro/ODE and a separate PDE class (both 3-4 credit). It's novel that one intro class from BU is broken into 3, for 9 credits. (Still trying to wrap my head around this, LOL. But hey, if they wanna hand out 9 math credits like candy, who's to stop them?) AS in Math, opinions please - StoicJ - 05-28-2017 I wouldn't mind the 5 math courses, but trying to knock them out in a year or less is a bit much, especially since it is a lot of math I am not familiar with. I am going to email an advisor at my old JuCo and see what they come back with. I will also email an advisor at my old Community College. Think I earned 15 or 18 credits there, and it seems they require you get just 21 credits from them to earn a degree. They offer plenty of math courses online, for less than the JuCo charges, so maybe that's the way to go. |
