They really lowballed your computer science credits. :/ Sanantone has recent experience with the challenge process; she might have some pointers.
I know you prefer Straighterline classes, but are there any other exams or classes you can take? Or would you be all right with a BA in Liberal Studies using SL classes?

Long Time Lurker, Looking For Second Opinions - mog538 - 01-12-2015

I am (currently) in SE Calgary so there may be some other options I could use but if it would be quicker then I would be happy enough to go with a BA in Liberal Studies if I can knock out some more SL courses whilst trying to get the Capstone finished.

What happened to considering the BSBA in CIS or even a BSBA in General Management? Almost anything would be better than liberal studies.

You can't really challenge anything until you're enrolled. Look for the course descriptions and syllabi for the original courses and compare them to the course descriptions of what you think are equivalent TESC courses. You can also search the PLA database for additional coursework that's been evaluated. Through MyEdison, you will submit a helpdesk ticket with all of that information to advisement in the Heavin School of Arts and Sciences. The registrar will just reroute your ticket there anyway. All of this could be different since you had to work through a foreign credit evaluation service. You can also try having your credits evaluated by another company, but I don't know how expensive that is.

The good news: If you are fine with a BA in Liberal Studies (and I get Sanantone's point about a BSBA), this won’t be too difficult to complete. You already have LIB-495 Capstone in progress, so that would make it seem a bit odd to do the BSBA Strategic Management as well, but it could be done.
You will need the following Straighterline classes:

1. MAT-121 College Algebra 3
2. SOC-101 Intro to Sociology 3
3. COM-300 Business Communications 3

and 8 more hours of Anything Else for free electives, which would be 3 SL classes (one could be Personal Fitness for 2 hours, but whichever 3 you’d like except the DEV-001s).

(The other good news: I just got new spiral splints for my fingers so they won’t bend backward too far when I type… and they aren’t bending backward when I type! Woot!)

I missed the part that the liberal arts capstone is in progress.

Hi KayV,

Since he is in Calgary do you think he should consider the BGS from Athabasca University I have seen you recommend before?

All the best!

Steven

KayV,

Thank you for those recommendations, you are awesome! Those three classes shouldn't be too tough as I have already done the work for sociology (which never appeared on my transcript) and maths so they should be easy and quick to get. Business Communications from what I have read sounds manageable also. The last 8 credits I might just do SL Spanish I and II as I have enjoyed dabbling in Spanish and it would give 8 credits in a fun way. Good news too on the new splints! Woot indeed!

Hi Steven,

Thank you for the idea. I had considered Athabasca but at 51 credits and counting from Straighterline that would be a lot to lose out on now as I don't think they take Straighterline credits sadly.

Long Time Lurker, Looking For Second Opinions - KayV - 01-13-2015

As Mog points out, Athabasca does not accept Straighterline credits. Athabasca is perfect for people with 90+ "traditional" credits, but not so great for people who need to test out of their degree or use ACE/NCCRS-type credits.
