From reading that you might even be able to use SL ALEKS and Saylor courses to get that AA and still transfer it en block to finish at another 4 year NJ college.....be big news here if true.

Thanks , thought I had that page bookmarked but couldn't find it.

That's the good news I needed to hear.

Thank you very much!!

I'm going to get started on my TESC AA and once finished I will be sure to post an update on transferring to a 4year B&M with an AA from TESC.

Thanks again everyone!

I'm sure I'll be back again soon with more questions, haha. Smile

Wow that was fast, good luck. You might want to share your plan here so others can benefit!

What NJ CC were you looking at, I know some have agreements with TESC that TESC will take all credits from them so I would think it would work in reverse.

Thank you. I will as soon as I square it all away.

Bergen CC. I'm going to start on my AA from TESC, but somewhere in the middle I'm going to have a transcript sent to Bergen CC, just to see if they would accept ALEKS, SL, ACE credits from TESC.

No rhyme nor reason to my crazy thoughts. lol

If I were you, I'd balance classroom knowledge with an internship/entry-level job in finance. I would look at trying to get on anywhere in an entry-level job and gain some real world experience. Number 1 you'll learn more outside the classroom and more importantly it will help you see if you actually enjoy the work. It could be you enjoy learning about finance, but maybe not the job of finance. Only one way to find out, take a job in the field.

The Ivy Tech Certification Crosswalk showing CLEP and DSST credits is the sure bet. My DSST Art of the West... was accepted, as was CLEP Humanities, Intro to Business. No need for pre-approval if it's on there.

There is no ECE crosswalk, so that may be case by case. Perhaps allowances can be made more easily for older students who have a BA already.

Use ALEKS to get a good grounding in the subject, then spend the 100 bucks and take the CLEP or DSST exam.

Of course, you can also use Instant Cert, as I did for the exams I passed. In Math, if you are going on to Calculus or Trig, you might want to take the long haul and go with ALEKS. Same with Science. If you're really going to use it later, go deep with ALEKS.

If you want basic algebra to check the quantitative skills distribution box (or College Math for 6 credits), I would go with InstantCert for prep.

ironheadjack Wrote:To push the topic a little further....no matter where credits come from SL, ACE, etc. If you were to "launder" them through the big three(a RA institution) how could your b&m college not accept credits from another RA college? Is it a common occurrence to reject credits that fit your intended degree plan?

My plan was to take a bunch of cleps and SL, add them to my TESC credit bank, and then have a transcript sent to my local community college. I was a tad bit nervous with this strategy but I honestly expect(ed) a New Jersey CC to accept all my credits from TESC. Now I'm scared my plan is falling apart.

Even TESC wants transrcipts from original sources. My wife recently transferred from a CC to TESC. She had taken the Intro to Rel DSST. When TESC received the CC transcript, they mentioned that they noticed the additional credit, but my wife needed to send the DSST transcript over. They wouldn't accept it on the CC transcript.
