Credit for ALEKS Corp (McGraw Hill) Online courses in College Algebra & Statistics - namwen - 03-04-2009 My wife is using the ALEKS Beginning Algebra to study up for the ACCUPLACER test that she has to take. I am really surprised with how much she is enjoying it. She has to pass the ACCUPLACER Elementary Algebra test with a 76 in order to get into the LVN program. She's gotta make sure that she passed on the first try. If she doesn't she will have to wait six weeks to take it again and risk missing her spot in the program. It starts only once a year and is really close to where we live. The requirements for Elementary Algebra are on this page: The ACCUPLACER Tests Will the ALEKS get her up to speed for the ACCUPLACER? They just haven't applied the courses to my evaluation yet (how long does it take for them to do that anyway?) I will let you know when they do! I spoke with an advisor and she didn't seem to have a problem with the class, I'm in the same boat as you. Hoping that they take Intro to Stats. Thanks Autumn. Yeah sometimes it seems like it takes tesc forever to do anything. But I still love them for giving me a chance to finish school online. Lia posted on this thread specifically how tesc transcribed each of the 3 Aleks statistics courses she completed. But tesc can be inconsistent in the way they do things. I think with Human Services and Psychology degrees Intro to Stats should be equivalent to doing Aleks Behavioral Statistics. If so, go knock out the Behavioral stats while it is fresh in your mind. While I don't know which one counts in your degree program (I'd suspect either will) I do know TESC will award you credit for BOTH anyway- so that would be a bonus of 3 more credits! If you have been waiting for 4 weeks. Try sending them and email. I had a few problems this week. The emails got their attention to it. The problems were then corrected. Talked to a good advisor. Be sure to ask if one is in the office if you get the hotline. Funny thing- was just about to post the exact same list of ALEKS to TESC course numbers I found by doing searches on this thread. I remembered that tesc was transcribing one of them as a lower level 199 credit but forgot it was Behavioral Statistics. You all are probably right. For any readers who are in the same boat. -- Since the TESC BA in Psychology just says "Statistics" they should accept Sta 201-Intro to Statistics or Sta 199-Behavioral. Sorry, I pushed the panic button a little early when I thought I'd spent 45 hrs on a course that wouldn't apply. -- Already have 13 unused sophomore credits from indecisively switching majors when I had more money than brains. Thanks again! Good luck in your studies ya'll. Credit for ALEKS Corp (McGraw Hill) Online courses in College Algebra & Statistics - derek10rr3 - 03-05-2009 Thanks too all the great feeback received on this forum, I took the plunge, and after getting an assessment of 71% in Beginning Allgebra last night, I created a profile on ACE as directed on page 2 of this thread, and was able to select my school (ALEKS), and Course (beginning algebra), and submit the course. I then emailed Aleks and asked them if they would be able to confirm this for ACE. this was all done in a matter of 4-5 minutes arond 8:30 PST. This morning when I logged into my ACE account, my course is now showing as approved by ALEKS, and is now waiting the 24-72 hr period to be posted to my ACE transcript. I jsut thought I would share the ease of the process with everyone, and encourage people who haven't yet signed up to do so at once. It only took me 11 hours to complete the course, and EC has confirmed for me that this course WILL satisfy the Mathematics requirement. Now I just need to take stats, and my math requirement will be complete for my accounting degree. I am also going to take intermediate algebra and college algebra for electives, as the course catalog indicates three courses below the level of calculus may be applied towards the degree, and others on this forum have gotten credit for beginning and intermediate algebra. Now that Aleks has confirmed my course as approved, how long do I need to wait before I can start my next class? Am I okay to go ahead and start the new course now?
