I'm 10 for 10 using IC. (OK, so I didn't use IC for A&I Lit. I used the GRE Lit to prepare for A&I because I am silly and do everything the backwards/hard way.)

I also find I make much better progress toward my goals when I am visiting IC regularly rather than during those times of hiatus. (Hiatuses? Hiatii?)

I just passed the new substance abuse today. That makes it 9/10. The one I failed was the first one, I am 9/9 since joining IC.

Hi to all-

First time poster. I've taken 5 CLEPs (English Comp, English Lit, Analyzing & Interpreting Lit, American Lit, and English Comp w. Essay which turned out to be a redundant double credit. Sad ), and have passed them all. I have one final test to go to fulfill my max credits- Natural Science.

This one appears to be pretty difficult. I've used IStudySmart for all except English Comp, which I didn't study for at all. I've been studying for the NS test for about 6 weeks now. Here's my question- the NS test is 120 questions, needing a score of 50 to pass. Does that mean I need to answer a minimum of 60 questions correctly in order to pass? I thought I read somewhere here that the actual percentage/questions required to be correct at a somewhat lower figure- something like 42%, or scoring 50 correctly out of 120. Is this correct? Or are the percentages shown on this thread the correct score/pass percentages? I sure hope so. If so, how do they figure this?

Thanks- I'm glad I found this place!!!

I've taken 5 and passed 5. Easy enough to calculate. I've used instantcert on most of them. The only one I didn't was the Freshman English Comp, lol it was my worst grade too. IC WORKS! Just cram until you are ready, then you can forget about it.

Jennifer got it spot on I think. We are motivated AND I like to think smart bunch because we have done our homework, investigated the possibilities and shared some great advice. I just met a recent TESC grad a few days ago who studied by traditional courses for 6 years to graduate. Great but when I told her what I did in 2 years with test/FEMA credit options, the look on her face almost made me feel guilty telling her. Truth is, not many people know. Of the ones who do know about testing options, it's probably only the lucky few who know about Instantcert. I just took my last DSST a few weeks ago and am set to graduate in December. I am so grateful to everyone who shared on the posts. I would not have been as sucessful without the advice and support! I took and passed 4 CLEPS and 3 DSSTs for 27 credits total.

I think it is encouraging for lurkers who stop by to see that exams CAN be passed, and that there are, in fact, MANY people here doing it every day. You don't have to have a high pass rate to take exams- to post your rate- or to even stick around....but again, I think seeing that other people are doing it brings it into reach for many people who have the misconception that "those people who test out of classes must be really smart." The reality is that we here are all just really motivated and in my opinion, ANYBODY can be motivated...it's a choice. Big Grin

I agree with this comment so much. No one has ever accused me of being smart but I do have a strong belief in the tenacity factor, and I think that's why many of us are here. We are the ones who find the way through the mountain while others follow the long slow trail forged around by others. I may not be super smart, but I sure am motivated. And my pass rate is at 100% so far, and although I don't expect to maintain that, it's not like it's going to stop me one bit if it changes.

Since you included TECEPS I'm 2 for 2. I stumbled on this site from the TESC discussion forum to learn just what this CLEP was. After poking around for a few months I decided to give it a try and the results were great. A 76 in marketing. I studied for about 30 hours for that test, I may have passed just by cramming, but I have this quirk that makes me want to do the best I can. I doubt I ever would have taken a CLEP if I did not find this site and all of you motivated me. I'm taking my next CLEP in January (management) and a DSST (MIS) in February or March.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!Big Grin hilarious Big Grin
