Ask advising to add AS Math. I would add it early since you lock in the degree plan in case things change in the future.
Here is what you need for AS in Math (22cr)
3 credits Math GE
4 credits Calculus
15 credits of Math Electives
22 credits total
Do first (as part of CS degree)
3cr Sophia College Algebra (MAT-121 College Algebra)
4cr Sophia Calculus I (MAT-231 Calculus I)
3cr Sophia Introduction to Statistics (STA-201 Principles of Statistics)
3cr Study.com Math 108: Discrete Mathematics (MAT-270 Discrete Mathematics)
3cr CSM Learn (BUS-210 Quantitative Skill for Business)
16 credits
Then do either
6cr CLEP College math
or
3cr Sophia Introduction to College Mathematics (MAT-105 Applied Liberal Arts Mathematics)
3cr Sophia Precalculus (MAT-129 Precalculus)
22 credits total
Natural Science, Computer Science, or Math Electives (9cr)
Don't worry about this because this part will be automatically filled with all the CS courses you took.
I always recommend that students who are pursuing a CS degree should consider obtaining a free AS in Math as well. Often, you only need to complete a few additional courses, which can easily fit into the elective requirements of your CS degree. This approach doesn't require extra time investment, as you would need to take other courses to fulfill those elective slots anyway.

FYI, the old 6-credit CLEP College Mathematics ACE Recommendation expired several months ago. It's now evaluated at three credits. If someone knows the new TESU equivalency, please share.

That's interesting! I wouldn't have even thought to check how ACE views CLEP exams because schools have their own evaluations of individual exams: Thomas Edison State University - CLEP College Credit Policy (collegeboard.org)

For whatever reason, TESU still grants 6cr for some CLEP's that were downgraded to 3cr a while ago: A&I Lit, English Lit, American Lit, and Humanities. So they may continue to grant 6cr for the College Math CLEP.

I suppose that schools can give any amount of credit for any score on any CLEP exam?

Each college can set its own credit-granting policy, which may differ from the ACE policy.
If you're concerned about TESU's policy changing at some point, then take your CLEPs and get them transferred sooner, rather than later.

Got an unfortunate update on this today. The CLEP College Math is indeed now only worth three credits at TESU. I took the exam in late September, and TESU finally received my scores and completed my academic eval today. I did appeal the evaluation result, unsuccessfully. Apparently, someone updated the equivalent course codes and end dates on the catalog page but failed to refresh the number of credits and equivalencies awarded.

Wow, that's really disappointing. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you, but thank you for the update. Out of curiosity, did it come in as MAT 102 or 103? And do you have a backup plan for the final elective, like Intro to College Math at Sophia?
