It's reported that Black will let you redo an assignment. Keep that in mind. RE: Discussion forum on TESU - Pats20 - 04-20-2023 (04-20-2023, 02:13 PM)LevelUP Wrote:Yes. I never requested. I just wanted to get through it. Dr. Black's focus is on helping you be a great writer/thinker/communicator. He gave me so much amazing feedback... and I was already a pretty good writer. He is incredibly generous with his time, you can call as often as you want to, at literally any hour (my friend got off work at 3am Dr Black's time, and he said to call then!) And yes, he will let you redo any assignment for a better grade. If you approach it as an opportunity to work with an amazing writing coach instead of being annoyed by getting a lot of comments on your paper, you will emerge a much better writer/thinker/learner. I did not realize how little I fully understood APA until I had Dr. Black. Looking at that paper now, it was an embarrassment. But Dr. Black was kind and patient and explained everything. He prepared me so well for grad school that I was able to get my graduate program to waive the requirement for their normally required APA/professional writing course. RE: Discussion forum on TESU - origamishuttle - 04-21-2023 I was dinged for APA format in my discussion thread, where I had to modify the HTML directly to get the hanging indent to work. I thought it would be well received that I went through the extra effort, but apparently the professor wanted even more. Oh well. The TESU discussion forum UI doesn't provide any realistic way to comply with some details of APA, such as the handing indents you mentioned. I've done my best with the tools available and never had any issues. I've never heard of a professor dinging someone for APA *formatting* in a discussion post. I'd like to see the professor in question properly format everything in Moodle or Canvas. It's near impossible. This is a situation where I'd file a formal complaint. I guess I should have politely questioned it in the moment, but the bar was set high, so I didn't think it was out of the ordinary. Also I definitely wouldn't have lodged a complaint because I was trying very hard to stay on the professor's good side. My assignments were still getting good grades, so I figured it all evens out. I wouldn't file a complaint and try to go around the professor before the course has ended. Making an enemy of the professor doesn't sound like a good idea to me. |
