That doesn't make sense.

TESU (edx) micro bachelor is this one course and it does make sense, it's one course rated 9-12 hours per week for 12 weeks, at minimum it's 108 and max would be 144 hours of studying on this course.  The bulk of all college courses would roughly be 80-120 hours depending on the course and if it has labs or something similar.

If you look at the examples on the TESU webpage for edx-credit, they list several MicroBachelors and corresponding credits.  Each of them may have similar numbers of hours, the only difference is, it's broken down into multiple courses instead of one.  Here's the link: https://www.tesu.edu/degree-completion/edx-credit

As an example, if you select the NYU Intro to Databases in the list, it's split into 3 courses, each of them are 6-8 hours for 5 weeks.  So, the minimum time recommended is 90, and the max is 120.  For NYU CS Fundamentals, the hours are different for the 3 courses, but time is similarly broken down instead of lumped into one for the TESU course.

That's very strange if true. If they bring in a course as a particular course, I'm not sure why they would limit it to only one degree program...

It does seem odd for TESU, but for edX, it is pretty normal, I think. A lot of their courses don't count for credit unless and until you enroll in the particular degree program at the partner school they are intended to work in.

That said, It's not clear that it would apply to the SOS-110 course as it seems to be listed at it's own, one-course microbachelor's.

I got edX NYU Computer Science Fundamentals (COS-104) and NYU Database Fundamentals  (COS-105)

I made the evaluations for different programs (CS, Math, BS CIS and BSBA OPM) and COS 104 and COS 105 landed in very different places.

In the "Permanent Academic Record", they show edX Microbachelors as "TESU-Assessment Credit", separated from ACE, but still with a CR.

Would that be the same section as like a TECEP?

RE: SOS 110 Information Literacy discounted through edx Microbachelor - studyingfortests - 11-02-2022

Has anyone determined definitively whether this EdX course would work in place of SOS-110 for a BA-LSSS?

I have a friend close to finishing a TESU degree through a combination of ~60 RA credits and a bunch of Sophia and Coopersmith. He's planning to pay the residency waiver, so it seems like the EdX would save him about a grand in reduced tuition.

Anyone have any idea why this wouldn't work?

I would like someone to confirm this comes in TESU to fulfill the SOS-110 requirement before I start recommending people pay $500 for this.

Questions I have:
1. Does this course have MyLab?
2. What does TESU academic advising say about this course?

I mean edx literally says in the description

"Credit Election
Learners who successfully earn the MicroBachelors Information Literacy program certificate can choose to elect three (3) credits at no additional cost at Thomas Edison State University (TESU).
TESU course equivalents are as follows:

  1. MicroBachelors: Information Literacy = TESU’s SOS 110 Information Literacy"
I feel like that's all the confirmation you "need" to confirm that this will transfer. I can't answer your question though, but when time comes I will definitely be doing this.
I also have a few questions for anyone that's done this/ is willing to Guinea pig.

1) Will this count towards Residency requirements/RA credits?

Until someone does it and reports back, we only have the info presented here.
