RE: ASU to Launch a Free Global Initiative and enroll 100 million students - MNomadic - 02-10-2022 I thought I'd drop this here. EDX/ASUx has a MicroMasters program that can transfer into one of ASU's online Masters programs in applied leadership and management for 3 courses(9 credits). The degree is through the same Thunderbird School of Management as the free initiative. There's no guarantee that you would be able to apply credits from both programs or that they would apply to the same degree but it is still worth looking into. EDX/ASUx MicroMasters Program Take note that the 3rd course, Leading Data and Decision Making, currently has its enrollment closed with future dates to be announced. The other 2 have upcoming start dates in March and May. I'm extremely curious about what the program structure will be like and still wonder when actual enrollment begins and if there's any admissions process. RE: ASU to Launch a Free Global Initiative and enroll 100 million students - newdegree - 02-23-2022 Did anyone find out if the credits will be undergraduate or graduate credits? I'm just curious very interesting certificate. RE: ASU to Launch a Free Global Initiative and enroll 100 million students - sanantone - 02-23-2022 They're graduate-level!!! https://www.highereddive.com/news/arizona-state-wants-to-reach-100m-learners-by-2030-can-it-meet-its-goal/617468/ RE: ASU to Launch a Free Global Initiative and enroll 100 million students - Courcelles - 02-23-2022 Funny when downplaying it, the article doesn’t make a big deal that there’s literally nothing free on Coursera that grants credit. That ASU is apparently willing to put this on a real RA, AACSB transcript is a major difference that can’t be glossed over. 100 million folks in a decade is marketing speak. But comparing it to non-credit MOOCs isn’t quite apt. RE: ASU to Launch a Free Global Initiative and enroll 100 million students - MNomadic - 02-23-2022 Agreed, I've been following the MOOC space since its inception and I've never seen as good an opportunity as this. RE: ASU to Launch a Free Global Initiative and enroll 100 million students - Vle045 - 02-23-2022 I think this sounds fantastic. Although, their wording has me wondering…. It almost sounds like they are looking specifically outside of the US and/or those in poverty. I am wondering how it applies to those of us who are just average Joe’s in the US. RE: ASU to Launch a Free Global Initiative and enroll 100 million students - sanantone - 02-23-2022 According to the email I received after pre-registering, the certificate is pending approval. I guess they have to run it by HLC since it's a new program. While their focus definitely appears to be the people most in need, I'm hoping they don't plan to exclude some people while including others. I'm going to sit for the informational webinar to hopefully gain more insight on the project. |
