Free or low cost Six Sigma White/Greenbelt Certification? - Toastmaster - 04-19-2016 I'm going to have to check this out. I was under the impression that you actually had to have experience to sit for a Black Belt? Thanks for the info. LaterBloomer Wrote:Would Santa Fe Community College's ed2go course meet your needs? I completed this course and it's good. Like any professional level certification, it is only as god as the person using it and the competence in it's use. I do not nor have I ever worked for a company that heavily relies on Six Sigma but the information contained within the course has multi-industry utility. In reality, it is simply another form of project management and/or problem solving and could even be utilized for root cause analysis. As far as reputable, yes I would say it is. Certified by a "certifying agency", not so sure. There are a couple Six Sigma certifying agencies, no matter what Wiki says, but again, if you are interviewing with a company/individual with knowledge Six Sigma or has heavy usage in an organization, a yellow belt might help get you an interview if you are already qualified through other means for the job but I would not bet the job simply on that one certification. A yellow belt simply means you are familiar with the methodology and can contribute to a project, the green belt can help the black belt by assisting with the smaller projects within a larger project and the black belt is the project manager. Free or low cost Six Sigma White/Greenbelt Certification? - Jody7818 - 04-22-2016 In order to become IASSC Green Belt certified, you don't have to take a course. The only thing you have to do is pass a test. The test is around $300. And the certification is for life...unlike the ASQ version in which you have to pay throughout the years in order to keep your certification. I attended a one week green belt course not that long ago. While the training was valuable, it was very rushed. You may run into the same thing if you take a similar course. If I was looking to get certified, I would read a book, watch some videos, view some websites on DMAIC related material, etc....and then sit down for the test. I believe the concepts can be easily learned on your own much like a CLEP or DSST test. oh...and look here at the website Green Belt Certification | International Association for Six Sigma Certification Free or low cost Six Sigma White/Greenbelt Certification? - Toastmaster - 05-18-2016 Thanks Jody7818! Free or low cost Six Sigma White/Greenbelt Certification? - DBRENNAN118 - 05-18-2016 I found a groupon for MSI (Management and Strategy Institute) Black Belt for $119! I completed the course (online) and am now a Certified SSBBP (Six Sigma Black Belt Professional)! The course wasn't hard, and I learned a great deal in a short time. I'm not sure I would put myself against someone with a ASQ certification, however. Give it a shot - it's a legit certification, and looks good on my resume. I don't think I would get a job running a supply chain project with this cert, but for a regular management position, I hope to be a slightly more interesting candidate because of it. Can you share some information about the course: How many Tests & Final Exam Total Questions. Would love for my daughters to knock this out for knowledge & future resumes. Free or low cost Six Sigma White/Greenbelt Certification? - DBRENNAN118 - 05-18-2016 I'm sorry - I can't recall and can't find the number of questions on the exam (thinking 100??). There are 4 open book quizzes that don't count toward final score. I spent around 3-4 solid days on it, and took really good notes. The exam is open book, non-proctored, and took me less than 1 hour (they give you 3). I scored a 96%. It's honestly not difficult, but gives you a really solid understanding of SS concepts, and prepares you to apply DMAIC to everyday management problems. There's a few groupons from them in different cities as they're an online learning provider. Signed up for the Six Sigma Black Belt Professional (SSBBP). Appreciated the layout of the program. Since I have been exposed to this system style most of my career and noticed the 3 attempt option (must wait 24hours if you fail) - I worked through the course and took the final tonight. Passed with a 91% (expected about an 84% on how it felt working through the exam). In an effort to gauge the difficulty level, I chose to not use notes and treated it like closed book exam . +This was more to get a handle on how my girls would fair after two months of studying + notes (this will be very new/fresh information to them). Felt it was a challenging exam but came with some logical question structure that is sure to help many of those that take the course. At the price point, it is really a good deal for a recognized and respected certification. Please don't try it in my time frame - I have a bit of OCD when something gets into my head as a challenge |
