And they also don't post to a College Board transcript. No one will ever see that you failed a CLEP exam, it's 100% private.

The American Government Exam was always considered one of the hardest. I studied like crazy for a long time because I needed those particular credits to get into a masters program I wanted. I still got my lowest grade on that exam. It is a hard one and definitely not the one I would recommend for the first exam to take.

I did fail one of the PRAXIS II exams I needed for teaching. It is a hard pill to swallow, but you need to just let it go and go on to the next thing. I did pass that PRAXIS the second time around. Intro to Sociology will be better for you.

is this true even if you select to send your score to a college? do they receive the "failed" clep score?

Their standard info sheets don't address that. I had a long discussion with The College Board about 5 years ago, and asked about the check box on the transcript, it leads you to believe you can select only passing scores, but I was assured that failing scores are never sent- checkbox or otherwise, and I've always just kinda accepted that; however, I think it's worth an email to get confirmation. https://clep.collegeboard.org/about/score
