Long Time Lurker, Looking For Second Opinions - KayV - 12-04-2014

The very first section of General Ed requirements is called Intellectual and Practical Skills, abbreviated IPS. You only needed to have 15 IPS hours, but you actually have 17 hours with your 6 English/ 6 Math/ 5 Computer Technology. That means that 2 of those 17 hours move into the general education electives section. I just put that line in to show that you really did have the 18 hours of general ed electives (Physics 6, Econ 5, Quant Methods 5 makes 16 hours, plus the two extra math hours make 18 total).

Thank you so much KayV, I missed that line so was getting confused trying to match things up ahead of TESC doing their evaluation (and knocking off SL classes as I wait!)

Long Time Lurker, Looking For Second Opinions - mog538 - 12-05-2014

KayV,

In the Natural Science/Mathematics plan that you made for me, could the Systems Analysis & Design I credits be used towards the last "14 more hours of anything"? Would be great if that should work as could save me 2 classes!

Thanks,

Chris

Long Time Lurker, Looking For Second Opinions - KayV - 12-05-2014

Why yes it would! Great catch!

Long Time Lurker, Looking For Second Opinions - mog538 - 12-06-2014

KayV,

Excellent news, thanks, thought I see TESC have a Systems Analysis Class at UL credit so hopefully they will use all the programming ones as the UL for the more specific requirements and the 5 Systems Analysis credits for the general as those 5 credits off the 14 remaining would fit nicely into 3 straighterline classes!

Long Time Lurker, Looking For Second Opinions - mog538 - 01-12-2015

I have received my initial evaluation from TESC (only for my ECE credits, not Straighterline yet) and am a bit confused trying to figure out how it fits compared to KayV's plan (and how I should approach TESC to ask them to adjust it):

Long Time Lurker, Looking For Second Opinions - KayV - 01-12-2015

I'm looking, but just noticed your name is posted in a few places on the eval, so you should edit it out. Smile

Long Time Lurker, Looking For Second Opinions - mog538 - 01-12-2015

Thank you KayV, I got one instance of my name and then missed the others. Oops!

Long Time Lurker, Looking For Second Opinions - bricabrac - 01-12-2015

By briefly glancing over the eval, it looks like they only gave lower level credit for all the computer/software courses. You are only allowed 6-100 level credits in the area of sudy and they've placed your physics courses in those slots.

They also did not accept the mathemateics or the quant methods course as an equivalent ofr MAT119. You might want to sign up with ALEKS and grad a quick number of cheap math credits, including statistics which willl fall in the area of study as it's 200 level.

TESC has a 6cr 300 level global environment course that is a great complement to the DSST ENS201 environment and humanity exam. I would ask Advising if they would approve both the SL environment course (tranfsers as ENS200) along with the DSST ENS201. THey may say yes and it would be an easy additional 3 credits. Also, I think DSST CIS-301 Management Information Systems may fit in the area of study.

Edit to add: You should also ask about Saylors Business Statistics (transfer equivalency OPM351). I took the course when it was accepted though ALEKS and it filled my natural science elective.

Long Time Lurker, Looking For Second Opinions - mog538 - 01-12-2015

Thank you Bricabrac.

So it would seem they did not accept 9 credits of courses and from the spreadsheet I am trying to create to cross reference it all I think they have entirely ommitted another 11 credits.

The only ones I have identified of those so far are graded networking unit (2) and software development 2 (5) so I am still another 4 credits missing somewhere (and I am going cross eyed looking!)

I will look into those courses although I am having some trouble getting an ACE account set up as it seems I need an SSN and being from the UK I do not have a SSN. Hopefully I will get that problem ironed out soon though.
