What you (and I) would like to know is if the Network Technology TECEP also counts for comp sci credit in your area of study. Linda, she'll meet those requirements if all of my suggestions are approved, and perhaps also even if one isn't because she already has biology and chemistry credits. Biology will be where she earns over 12 credits. Now I realize why so many of you went for 2nd Bachelors! Asked her about finishing BA then BSBA, etc. If she doesn't get back to me within 48 business hours I'll just harass her by phone to get some answers teehee:roflol: Now I realize why so many of you went for 2nd Bachelors! (TESC Enrollment Fee) - CollegeStudent7 - 06-09-2011 CollegeStudent7 â while I appreciate your enthusiasm and your desire to be well informed before proceeding, the requests/questions are more in line with what the Advisement Center handles. However, in order to have your questions addressed by the Advisement Center, you must be a fully enrolled student. I encourage you to enroll in order to have access to these services. Success in your future endeavors at Thomas Edison State College. TESC Advisor Yup, that's what they just sent me. I took out names for privacy. I explained that my FAFSA went through and that I planned on using FA to cover enrollment as it's pretty steep. I guess I understand where they are coming from, but I cannot believe that I cannot have some simple questions answered before heaping over the $2,600+ for enrollment. I mean, how am I supposed to devise a plan? I did the math and out-of-pocket I'll be spending just under 5k to complete my degree at TESC. It's the enrollment fee that REALLY gets ya. It's still reasonable, but I've now been toying with the idea of completing my degree at Empire State College. After all, I'm a NY resident and there don't seem to be very steep fees. : Undergraduate Tuition and Fees Only problem is...although affordable, it looks like they require 32 credits directly through them:Transfer Credit | SUNY Empire State College That would be more expensive than TESC and slow me down a bit. Anyway..rant over. A little sad, but what can I say huh? Now I realize why so many of you went for 2nd Bachelors! (TESC Enrollment Fee) - CollegeStudent7 - 06-09-2011 PS. Is there anything special I need to know before I enroll? Can you still transfer cleps and other tests over or is that something that should be done prior? Now I realize why so many of you went for 2nd Bachelors! (TESC Enrollment Fee) - Yenisei - 06-10-2011 Sorry to hear that you didn't get the answer you needed. Empire State has some interesting courses, but they are pretty writing-intensive and require a lot of posting to discussion boards, i.e., they will take a lot of time, and I don't think you have that sort of time, especially since they make you take a course dedicated to planning your concentration. I have previously advised people to consider them for courses but the feedback I have gotten has changed my mind- not because their courses are bad, simply because there are faster and less expensive options. You have a decision to make here, but, IMHO, a course of action that takes longer and is more expensive isn't the best one for you. Now I realize why so many of you went for 2nd Bachelors! Yeah the 32-required credits taken at the ESC campus really turned me off, otherwise I would have gone for it. TESC seems to accept a TON of testing out and it would be feasible for me to finish within a year. ESC seems like it would take me 1.5-2 as they are not flexible and I'm juggling school with a full time schedule. The advisor from TESC told me they have 12 semesters and they start every month, so I can apply my FA and get started. Only problem is, I think I only got 5,500/year from PELL, so I'm really wondering how that works out. I want to reserve that for classes that cannot be tested out of. What a HUGE headache our country's educational system is. I'm trying so hard to figure out everything I test out of. She said once I enroll, then academic advisement is available to me. Stuck on the fence. I have no idea how you guys all figure out your academic plan as there doesn't seem to be a clear cut way and the big 3 generally aren't going to tell you how you can test out, from my knowledge. Now I realize why so many of you went for 2nd Bachelors! (TESC Enrollment Fee) - Yenisei - 06-10-2011 With the caveat that I don't know what else you need other than the 14 addition UL credits for the Nat Sci & Math Area of Study, the only questions you should have regarding what you need for those UL credits are: -Is the Pathophysiology ECE considered UL at TESC (it should be). -Can the Network Technology TECEP be used for UL Nat Sci & Math credit (no idea at this point) -Can you used ALEKS Business Statistics for UL Nat Sci & Math credit (ryoder says this is the case- if so take only that course and no other statistics course) AFAIK, you should be able to test out of any LL requirements both in the Area of Study (should you need to) or Gen Ed. If it turns out you need to take a TESC course, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it, but what I have outlined to you on this thread would, IMHO, be the path of least resistance. Bang out the LL stuff you know you'll need for Gen ED, the MIS DSST and maybe then enroll- ask first on this forum though to update everyone where you are. |
