If I could gain 4 lbs of muscle per month, since I have been lifting since I was 14 years old and I am 35, I would have gained 50lbs per year for 20 years. That would put me at 1200lbs!It's possible to gain 5 pounds of table muscle in a month.:roflol: P90X, Insanity, or a hybrid schedule of both workout programs? - CLEP101 - 07-18-2011 ryoder Wrote:Dude. Ryoder, did you see the re-match fight between Frank Mir (240 Lbs) and Brock Lesnar (260 Lbs) about a year ago or so on UFC. Since Mir got his Butt handed to him (big time loss), he gained 20 Lbs of mucsle in that short amount of time. He is now 260 Lbs to match Lesnar. He now looks leaner than Lesnar, but I think Lesnar will take him out again. But who knows. So many women ascribe to the heuristic that cardio = hot body. It does not. Cardio and low calorie diets alone will just make you into a smaller version of yourself. If you want to have a hot beach body, you need to lower your bodyfat while building more muscle. You know that's not always the best advice. Bodybuilding.com - High-Protein Diets: Are You Losing More Than Weight? Too much protein can harm your body - on MedicineNet.com I think we can all find enough protein in our diets to reach reasonable levels, they recommend about 0.37g per pound of body weight. I'd take 1g as an absolute highest amount, really for serious bodybuilders, not average people P90X, Insanity, or a hybrid schedule of both workout programs? - OE800_85 - 07-18-2011 marianne202 Wrote:I have wanted to purchase P90x for about 18 months, but just can't justify the cost. If anyone knows where it can be bought for a good deal, please pass it along to me!Marianne, you have an internet connection, why not pirate it from the interwebs! search for a torrent P90X, Insanity, or a hybrid schedule of both workout programs? - FinancialWorld - 07-18-2011 For those of you who use P90X, do you need a TV to do every workout? I plan to do it in my garage. The biggest thing that I can get out there is my laptop, or possibly (I don't know if this would work long term) a projector. I'm trying to plan out how I'm going to do it. Thanks P90X, Insanity, or a hybrid schedule of both workout programs? - OE800_85 - 07-19-2011 Your laptop will be fine as long as it has a disc drive and you can see/hear things well. But I think the p90x requires more equipment...some weights and a pullup bar right? Afaik, intensity is more cardio oriented without extra equipment, like a traditional workout video, and p99 is more strength training. As cool as beachbodys products are, something tells me they're a heartless corporation that deserves to get pirated. Just a thought P90X, Insanity, or a hybrid schedule of both workout programs? - ryoder - 07-19-2011 Burbuja - make sure you take bodybuilding advice from people who can bench press 350lbs, leg press 650, military press 225, curl 70lb dumbbells in sets ![]() I can do all of these things and I can tell you that building muscle is harder than most things you will do in life. At the beginning, its not so bad but as you pack on the first couple pounds of muscle, you will plateau. So don't worry about becoming a freaky bodybuilding chick because it won't happen overnight. Also, check out bodybuilding.com. They have a forum that will be helpful. Those people know how to build a beautiful, strong body as well as people on this forum know how to test out of degrees ![]() I think you are on the right track though! I have belts in both TKD and Karate so I like martial arts but just can't get into MMA. It's .8g of protein per 1kg of body weight. For the sake of simplicity, you can say 1 kg = 2lb. So .4g of protein per pound. Most of the advice on nutrition and weightlifting you see on magazines and on the internet is made by steroid users for steroid users. There is no real secret to the nutrition: Eat lean meats (fish, poultry). Eat lots of fruits and vegetables (orange and green leafy vegetables). Eat low fat foods (especially low saturated fats). Mono unsaturated fats (usually found in nuts) are good for you. Limit the amount of refined carbs you eat (pasta, bread, sugar). As far as this GOMAD thing, a quick search on the internet makes me pretty skeptical. For instance: Is GOMAD Safe? Yes. Or we wouldn't feed babies milk. You don't feed babies a gallon of milk per day. Just because a few glasses of milk per day is safe doesn't mean that a gallon of whole milk per day is safe. Claims like this make it obvious there's no real science behind this and just a fad. Not to mention the high incidence of lactose intolerance among non-western/Mediterranean non-white people. Doing P90X in a hotel room is much more appealing to me than using the hotel gym. I haven't bought anything special other than bands, though I will imagine that in a few months from now, I may want to buy a pull-up bar and maybe some weights. @Ryoder.. ha ha you are so funny ![]() I probably get way more protein than is recommended.. but I refuse to count anything other than carbs. Paleo/low-carb is pretty simple once you get the hang of it. |
