The strategy would be to get 70%-80% on the exam. Then you only need 30%-40% on the assignment to pass.

People that take the exam after doing the assignment usually end up taking the exam 1 month after they complete the course, so they forget most of what they learned and have to end up relearning the entire course if they want a good grade. This is due to the forgetting curve in human memory.

Exactly! For most courses that have a large learning curve like this course, I would recommend the same - Quizzes, Final, and then Assignments. I would do the Final as the quizzes would be fresh in my head, if I do the final a couple weeks later or longer, I have a higher chance of bombing them as the info isn't fresh in my mind, I have a hard time retaining info... In the end, it's all personal preference...

I think this course needs a review because it does not give you all what you need to build a CPU I had to google search including I paid for a course that teach you how to build one also most CPU has it's own architecture is very hard this course. I don't know why TESU do not want to accept it.

We don't have indication at this point that they won't, it's just speculation based on other CompSci courses that are not being accepted anymore.

So a TESU advisor just informed me that Comp Arch will be accepted if completed before 4/15, as that is when it expires. This is incorrect, the current recommendation actually expires 3/31, though I know SDC is working on renewal.

Regardless, I asked if ACE renews the course, will TESU accept it after 4/15. I'll let you know what I hear back, but I'd much rather hear from SDC since TESU advising is so consistently wrong about this. (They also indicated SDC Calculus would expire 10/2022, but this is also wrong since it was extended through 10/2025)

Study.com still around these parts? dfrecore?

Also wanted to add that SDC Computer Architecture is getting a new second assignment on 4/18/22 according to their website.

Hah, as if the first one wasn't bad enough.

That seems like a pretty clear indication that ACE is going to renew it, though. They just wanted to see some changes, I assume.

Yikes...

Quote:Good afternoon,

Well, there could always be a change in the future but TESU unfortunately has been phasing out accepting Study.com Computer Science courses. So the 4/15/22 deadline will be in effect even in there is an ACE date beyond that. Keep in mind that Study.com courses are sent to TESU via Study.com transcript not via ACE transcript. So if you want to complete the Computer Architecture course you'll want to do so ASAP (assuming you can complete it in two weeks).

Guess I'll renew my membership and try to bang this out, though I'm not too confident that I can.

No indication from TESU that there's a problem with any courses, or that any changes will be made to anything.  I'd continue on as usual.

Looks like we posted around the same time. Check out the reply I got from an advisor just before you posted, in case you missed it. Would be great if that's wrong, but I'm going to assume the worst case scenario at this point until we hear something definitive otherwise.

I meant, I haven't heard from my folks that TESU has told them they won't accept courses after a certain date.

The change is the course (additional assignment) is ACE-related, not TESU-related.

I almost never believe TESU advisors - they're about a 1 on the scale for being correct on these things.  Out of 1,000.

RE: TESU Eliminates SOME Study.com Transfer Credits [unconfirmed] - jsd - 03-29-2022

Agree, I would not be surprised one bit if they are wrong, as usual. Hopefully that's the case here. But there are other CS courses that TESU doesn't accept from SDC, so on the off chance they're actually correct here, I'm going to play it safe. Hopefully this is cleared up shortly, however.
