The trig really isn't that bad. Keep in mind you only have to complete 70 percent of the course. So, depending on how you go about it you won't even need to complete the trig piece of the pie to complete College Algebra; and honestly, the trig portion of college algebra is pretty basic.
I did the trig portion of precalculus on ALEKS. I think I did about 20 modules worth before hitting 70 percent.

Well, I signed up for college algebra, did the first assessment and got 80%
I am now in the process of submitting my report to ACE, and hopefully (really holding thumbs) it will all go through smoothly. I just want to confirm that getting over 70% for the first assessment is enough to get an ACE transcript? I also have one more question: Since I paid the single month fee ($20) to ALEKS, can I now go and do a course in stats for the rest of the month? Or will i have to pay an additional $20?thanks for all the help guys, and I'll be certain to post my end result with regards to getting credit on my transcript.

Congratulations! It should go through with no problems - that's exactly what I did with one of my stats courses - 70% or above is the 'magic number' for ALEKS/ACE. Once you see on the ACE site that ALEKS has approved your request, you can go into your ALEKS master acct and change your course to Statistics, and it will be covered under the monthly fee you already paid; you'll only have to pay an additional $20 if you don't finish (and cancel your acct.) within a month.

You seem to have a WHOLE bunch of CLEP etc credits behind your belt. I am curious...how does that factor into your degree? Can you give me an idea of how you are going about getting your degree (what degree) and through which college?
This is all new to me as I just emigrated from South Africa to the US, and my undergraduate degree there doesn't translate to an undergraduate here. So, I've just enrolled as a transfer undergrad student at a local college here, and am looking at the quickest (and most cost-effective) way of getting an undergrad degree here.

It's kind of off subject for the thread, so prior apologies to any viewers who think by my answering here I'm 'muddying' the thread.
The answer to how I'm factoring in all of the CLEPs/DSSTs is, I'm completing my entire BA in Psychology via testing through Thomas Edison State College (TESC). With the (mainly business) credits I transferred in covering my 'Free Electives', I'm completing all of my Gen Eds via CLEPs/DSSTs/ACE, and taking TESC's TECEP tests to fill remaining requirements for the Psych Major. It's a tremendously faster, cheaper way to go than via a traditional college, TESC is RA, so the degree is both fully accredited & transfers for a Master's, and (assuming I can finish my final 10 tests over the next 2 months) will be done in a total of 5 months - I started testing in Oct. 08. I honestly don't think there's a faster, cheaper way to get to a BA or BS in the US than via TESC or Excelsior. PM me if you'd like a breakdown of how the tests I've taken/planned apply to the degree plan.

Hey there ladies and gents. You guys really motivate me and I hope you are adding to your education and achieveing whatever good you desire. I was extremely impressed with Aleks' Intro to Statistics course. I really got into the formulas and and learned a considerable amount of information about statistics. These courses for credit are an awesome opportunity. More importantly finding people so motivated and driven to educate themselves and increase their level of knowledge may be a greater one. I submitted Intro to Stats to ACE and its been approved so I am just waiting to get the transcript processed so that I can knock out College Algebra and Precalc. It took me 46 hours to grasp enough of the concept and I thought it was a very valuable course.

Introduction to Statistics ( Alek-0007 )
I found this course both interesting and enjoyable.
It is upper level credits yet it is very doable even for someone who struggles with math ( like me ) . It took me a little bit of time to get use to the symbols used in statistics and to understand how to use the calculator in the program. In addition to the calculator provided I would suggest searching for some good online statistics calculators.

Additionally, I would recommend printing out the explanations for the problems as they come in handy as a reference tool during the assessments.

If I got a 74% in the initial assesment does that mean I can submit for credit? I spent several hours working through intermediate algebra because I only got a 67 on that assesment. Then I read on here that Excelsior accepts Beginning Algebra also so I decided to switch to it and took the initial assesment with a score of 74. I am hoping since it shows on my record all the time I spent on Int Algebra they will accept just the one assesment as credit.
