Hope you’re doing well! I went through all of your messages and it was amazing!

I am in Canada and planning to enroll for Edgewood university in online MBA program through Upgrad. I am quite confused about the Wes equivalent of this program. Could you please let me know if you aware about it.

Thank you  Smile
Sorry, I just saw this now, for some reason I didn't get a notification. I don't know anything about WES, but my understanding is that RA is the standard to aim for.
As of January 2024, the Edgewood DBA degree program received the Higher Learning Commission HLC accreditation, meaning it is RA. Initially, when first enrolled, it did not work as it was a brand new program.
Hi,

Thank you so much for your response. I will check this again. In between, could you please give me an overview of the examinations in MBA. Do we have any online proctored exams or is all assessments? How the evaluation process process works? Is this program can be manageable for a full time working professional?

Awaiting for your insights.
I can't tell you about the MBA side of things as I am only doing the DBA. No proctored exams on the DBA side of things, but there are some non-proctored "quizzes" that are part of many of the courses. UpGrad said that there would be zero exams, but one course did have an extensive open-book exam. The instructor said he was old school, and he didn't care what UpGrad promised; he felt this was a right of passage needed for the program. The rest of the courses are a combination of assignments and PowerPoint presentations.

The DBA was manageable for me working full time with family commitments. It had a similar structure and time commitments to my MBA, though the marking was a little steeper overall. One of the challenges in marking was when the UpGrad TAs evaluated assignments and seemed to be grading based on criteria different from those we were given. I know of people who have challenged grades and received better marks when the instructor reviewed the assignments, but I never bothered doing this myself.  I did well enough overall. The added preparation for the dissertation process begins mid-way through the courses, but this is also manageable.

Overall, the Edgewood side of things has been positive, and I've enjoyed the journey so far.

Hope this helps

Hi,

Thanks again for your reply. Is there any pass percentage criteria or how the graduation percentage will be determined? As a new student for foreign studies, I would like to understand about this please.
The lowest grade you are permitted in a course is a C or 2.0 GPA. You need to maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 or a B to graduate.

Hi Guys,

I have registered with Upgrad for their Ed.D. I am Canadian and I am currently living in Vietnam. I will update you on my journey with Edgewood University through upgrad here. Btw, the tuition fees were less than $10000.

Congrats! You're the second or third Canadian from the board that got into the program, what did you bring to the table? Did you fill all the requirements for entry or were you put into the conditional entry pile? It'll help future applications regardless of citizenship or location, not just Canadian applications...

Howdy all!

Quick program update. I have completed BUS 922, Quantitative Analysis II, and BUS 940, Effective Organizational Leadership. Each of these courses had fairly straightforward coursework.

Quantitative Analysis required a lot of coding and interpretation. The assignments weren't particularly long, but my instructor was picky about how the raw output of my code was formatted, and that cost me more points than expected.

Effective Organizational Leadership was a fun course. Coursework focused on analyzing an organization's leadership structure, its strengths and weaknesses, coming up with a way to grade the organization, and developing ways for the organization to improve. The final project consisted of an essay and a recorded presentation (I did a PowerPoint with a voiceover).

I am definitely happy to have completed the quantitative and qualitative courses. The grading criteria of these courses were the strictest by far, and overall, I would say the instructors' justifications for grading strayed from the rubric. I genuinely thought I had done well in each of the courses, only to lose out on lots of points because a topic was already thoroughly researched, or the instructor didn't like the topic. I know the skills taught in these courses are essential for completing my dissertation, but the feedback I received on my projects was not very substantial or valuable. Very strange overall.

I'm currently in my second week of BUS 941 Leading Change and BUS 902 Business Sustainability and Ethics. These seem to fall back into the standard that the rest of the program followed; a couple of quizzes and a few essays. Fun topics overall. By mid-October, I will start my last two courses, BUS 962 Managerial Economics and BUS 910 Financial Decision and Value Creation. These courses will wrap up by early December.

It's crazy to think I only have a few more months before I am working exclusively on my dissertation!

Thanks @Al3xBurns for sharing details on the courses and congrats for completing BUS 922 and BUS 940.
I am starting my DBA journey as of Sept 29th and I thought that we could take only one course per 6-week term. Is it possible to take more than one courses.

My understanding is that those in the program through UpGrad are locked into one course per term, while those working directly with Edgewood can take as many classes as they like.

I believe UpGrad students are limited to one course at a time; students enrolled directly with Edgewood can take two at a time, but pay a higher price for the program. The exception to this is BUS 930-933. These four courses are taken one at a time as your dissertation research and defense.

Thanks @Al3xBurns and @lidel for the clarification. This is exactly what I expected, though for a moment that we (upGrad students) might have had a few more options.

Do you know if the course selection for September 28th term is available yet? Would upGrad have that information at this point?

As an UpGrad student, I have never had the option to select courses. At the beginning of the program, they simply rolled out the entire calendar with everything laid out for the full two years. I imagine that if you enrolled directly with Edgewood, you would have more options there.

In the meantime, the Tech and AI concentration has also been discontinued, leaving only two of the original five concentrations, Leadership and Finance, remaining. To date, no alternative solutions or workarounds have been offered to students affected by this change. In my view, this is a deeply disappointing approach.
