Allow me to put my 2 cents' worth in here. I totally agree with Snazz...that there is definitely a need for study materials for these 2 TECEP exams.

I am currently attempting to study for the TECEP Operations Management exam. After taking numerous DANTES and CLEP exams (and using IC for my main study materials), I am finding it a LOT harder studying for this TECEP exam. It has slowed me down considerably having to learn this subject by reading an entire book and then creating my own study notes. I felt like I was going 70 mph using IC for the other exams and have now slowed down to a 10 mph crawl studying for this TECEP without IC. One thing is for sure...if I had had to do this for all of my other exams and not had the benefit of IC, I would not be nearly as far along in the pursuit of my degree.

PLEASE create study materials for these two exams Steve. I am SURE there will be a great many students who will thank you! Wink

Kiwilover, you are soo right! I'm sure lots of people would love to have IC create a guide for these two impossible exams!

It has taken me over a month now to get a proctor approval from TECEP, and I was about to take both exams at the same time (but scared crazy about doing so :eek: ), until I learned that it can take two months to score these exams!!!!:mad:

So I decided to go ahead and take the Business Policy exam, just because I don't want to take a long class and the work seems fairly straight forward, and at the same time, I signed up at LSU for the Independent Study class, after I received written confirmation from Excelsior that they will accept this class for credit. Total cost only $229 compared to $450 for the TECEP exam!

Now this will allow me to take the class (which should be doable, sofar I've scored A's on all my classes), and take one more exam, both in November and hopefully by Christmas I will be done!!!!Big Grin

The best part, I am actually looking forward to the independent study class, simply because it seems easier than taking the TECEP, mainly because at least I will know WHAT I need to study! This insecurity about TECEP after the well structured CLEP and DANTES drives me CRAZY!!! Thanks again to SimonTam for the awesome info!

Your posting prompts some questions:

1. Did they send you a letter in the mail informing you of the proctor approval, or did you have to find this out on your own somehow? I faxed in my TECEP exam registration three weeks ago, but haven't heard anything back (although they did charge my credit card one week ago).

2. I assume you paid the $450 fee when you sent in the exam registration; if you are no longer planning to take the exam, are you able to get a refund?

3. For your Ops Mgmt class with LSU: do they have a time limit on how quickly you can complete this class? I would be interested in hearing your feedback on how you liked the class once you have finished it.

One thing is for sure...if I find out I can get a refund for the $450 I've paid for the TECEP exam, I would be VERY tempted to follow your lead and take the class! So I will be anxious to hear your reply!

If someone could please email me at webmaster@instantcert.com whatever info they have for one or both of these exams, then I could start looking into how feasible it would be to develop them. In particular, if they publish a PDF containing a content outline and recommended textbooks (similar to what Excelsior does for their ECEs), that would give me the information I need.

And...if everything looks good, then I'll slate them for development after Research Methods in Psychology! Smile
